Give me the address I'll send my mother in law over to drive him north quickly. He will sign anything we put in front of him just to get her to shut up.
What the hell...a dead beat broke clown school bought out Taggart and we can't afford to buy out this guy?
Trust me you want my mother in law for that...and she will do it for a half gallon of Publix chocolate ice cream.
I think these AM calls are beginning to happen. I, too, had a moment yesterday where I thought..."Yeah, this dog is not going to hunt.". I am sure Billy N knows this also, and he is calling his RE agent, agent, lawyer, and money guy. He looked deflated and defeated in his presser. That was a lousy product out on the field. I think we win 2 games this year, Miss State and Samford. We are just not good. Next hire needs to be a splash hire..Kiffin, Lanning, or bringing Urban back(which I think he would be open to) with a 12-team playoff now.
They were also still paying off Jimbo. $20m is a drop in the bucket compared to a half decade of sinking the brand which I brought up last year.
Huh? Jimbo left FSU and reportedly owed FSU money for leaving, not the other way around. FSU got bailed out.
I don’t doubt they are trying but we have guys on both sides of Los that aren’t talented enough to be there. No mount of teaching and practice can make me Derek Trucks or Tom Curren, it just isn’t there.
Excellent post, antny1. You state exactly what I feel about our situation. I’ve been a Gator football fan since my elementary school days back in the 1950’s. I attended my Gator game in 1958: we beat Tulane 34-14 and I was in hog heaven watching my heroes beat the Green Wave. Also that same year my grandfather and I attended to Florida Georgia game which we won 7-6. Jimmy Dunns 70 something yard TD run from scrimmage and Bobby Joe Green’s towering 82 yard punt that flipped the field position for us, were the only highlights of that game. I think we ended the game with 5 first downs and still won. Bob Woodruff football at its best. In my 70 plus years of following and loving my Gators, I have never felt the despair that I’m feeling about our team as I’m feeling now. I sat in my seat in the south end zone yesterday for 3 1/2 quarters, ( all I could take), and I would have been happier in a dentist chair undergoing a root canal. I like Napier and have doggedly defended him, but it’s apparent to me now he’s not the guy we need. That said, I don’t see anyone out there who could get us back to where we want to be unless it’s Lane Kiffen. I never would have entertained that idea years ago, but he has evolved into a much better human being than he was in his younger days. Being fired on the tarmac at Southern Cal and working on the staff for Nick Saban humbled him, to a degree. I remember Saban chewing his butt out on the sideline in a nationally televised game. I thought at the time that probably did Kiffin a lot of good. I don’t know for sure if we could coax him out of Oxford, but he would make football fun again for UF.
Urban, Lane, Lanning. Guys that have win and love to win. We need competitors. Getting used to losing. What truly is the Gator standard?
LSU went after a sure fire 8 win coach that’ll never win the sec. Is that better? I dunno. It would have been better yesterday but I think they settled and we took a shot. We’ve taken four shots with swings and misses. There’s only three active coaches with titles. Do we try to find the fourth or hire an 8 win retread. Besides Urbs who may have seen better days to trying to get divkhead from ole miss, who do you go after and why would they come?Debour went to Bama but would he come to Gainesville
This is where a coach with a more adaptable scheme or coaching acumen would have some plan to counter their speed rush with qb draws, slants etc But the guy just keeps trying to having a traditional drop back passing offense using patchwork line talent and thinking results will change.
Maybe on all of the above but donors and players actions will speak volumes. Etienne Princely If Wilson and Lagway transfer are we actually saying Billy would be our coach? Even more important than donors will be the players actions. We’ve lost two NFL players already. I say if others walk next year like the two I mentioned someone will be forced to act.
You know the situation is dire if this board is allowing this thread. Last year even a mention that Napier wasn’t the guy was an auto ban. Once the mods on GC turn its game over
Kelly is exactly what type of coach this program needed. A stop gap coach with a respectable record to rebuild the name value of the Gators before being able to attract a younger coach on a few years.
