Yes and no. They certainly are positioned better than everyone outside of Athens to take advantage of the current changes in the system.

I’d say they’d probably pull someone from the NFL when the time comes. Some well known DC or HC is my bet. If they stick to a College coach, if I were them I’d try to pull Kelly from LSU. He’s not doing too bad, established coach and I bet Bama would pay him more than LSU
Harbaugh is the best fit with his meat and potatoes approach to football but his baggage would hurt his chances.
His meat and potatoes approach is why he is on that list. Jim Harbaugh would have also been on that list but…not this year.
They did good last time getting the Miami Dolphins coach. I don't see an NFL coach in good standing dropping down to college right now. At least there's a framework (draft, contacts, FA) for building a team in the NFL. College is a mess right now.
I wouldn't be surprised if he does retire. He looks like it's taking a toll on him. He looks haggard to me.
