They kept talking about how close Missouri was in all of their lossesand they felt like they were about to finally break through and all I could think about was that of course it’ll be against the Gators if they do, but they turned that negative energy away and pulled off a great win on the road against a pretty good crowd for an 0-4 team.
I thought Riley Kugel did extremely well in all phases with the 20 minutes he was given. If he can play within control and produce like that, I'd give him more minutes and Aberdeen less minutes. The key for Kugel to me is consistency, lack of consistency in a lot of games this season replaced with the game he played last night should be rewarded. The assist he gave last night on the fast break was executed perfectly.
Riley Kugel seemed to have turned the corner. Committed a couple turnovers, but pulled 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. He played confident and had his best game since the loss against Baylor in November. I liked the defensive approach much better this time. Switched a lot of the screens aggressively instead of letting the ball handler a lane to drive and used double teams with backside help defense a lot more. And it worked.
