Chambers recalled speaking multiple times with Florida coach Mike White. The basketball skills showed up on film — the knack for scoring on all three levels, the crafty way of getting his shot off and Jones’ ability to run a team.

“Most of those in-depth conversations were about MJ’s character, about what a great teammate he’d be, and that academically he’s a stud,” Chambers said. “MJ’s a great human being and his parents are awesome. His dad’s a coach but he stays in his lane, and he’s phenomenal. I wanted Mike to know that.”
