NFL Scouts Suggest AR’s Poor Performance Was CBN’s Fault?

Great analysis, we obviously lost to FSU by 7 because AR gave up 45 points.

 

AR seemed to be hurt all the time… and the NFL should be rougher than college ball.

 

Didn’t mean to suggest AR lost that game for us Gatorborn. Our defense was pretty bad that night, as it was most games. FSU’s wasn’t exactly stellar either.
I do think, however, their QB was the difference in a game that was statistically and otherwise very close. Our guy had an opportunity. He came up short.

 

The coaching of AR did not create the inaccurate pass attempts to wide open receivers.
Nor did it produce the lack of yardage when AR decided to run as the season entered AR's final three games. AR had already made up his mind for the NFL and was playing not to get hurt.

 

But coaching does put the player in the best position to succeed and gets the player comfortable. I don’t think this offense put AR in the best position to succeed. The question is was Napier playing for future continuity by not modifying his offense to better fit AR? I hope that is the case, but time will tell.

 

NFL teams are great at picking kid with tons of talent that end up as a bust. Tony Banks and his dog, Felony, are a great example. Whether AR make it or not is a non issue with me.

He and his team are bringing in better players.

This is actually a good article with a misleading headline. And, the problem wasn’t Mullen or Napier as the narrative will blame Napier mostly, which the article points out as a flaw in reasoning. The problem is Richardson.

 

Cbn refused to adapt to what AR did best - when he did - 2nd half vs LSU, Tennessee - he was good. He was not good at pistol - play action- back to the D, and CBN didn’t want to ruin the 4 year plan. Agree or not… that’s most of the deal

 

AR's avg passing completion percentage in college ended up being the same as his high school passing average, despite being coached by Brian Johnson, Dan Mullen, Napier, and having worked with a private QB coach for the entirety of his college career.

But an NFL scout is looking at physical traits like a girl thinking "I can fix him".

 

AR took a lot of cheap shots and missed no games, actually missed very few plays.

 

True, but their QB was playing against a much worse defense.

 

Obviously...that's why we looked so much better without him in the bowl game.

 

So a bad throw = not trying? I give Gator players a lot more credit than that. Every single player we’ve had has made bad plays, you would have instabanned someone if they said they intentionally played poorly. Why are character attacks on AR okay but off limits for everyone else?

 

I agree w/ most of what you wrote. Except it is on the coach to let him 1/2 ass & stay in the game. Is he all about integrity, building culture, building a program or was he going with the myopic option?

 

Hurts is a guy that has improved every year for the last several years. I can’t say I’m not surprised. He has exceeded my expectations. He still has a ways to go if he wants to be in the league in his 30’s. He’s become a better passer than

i have no idea why people think because a guy can run fast and throw well that it has any bearing on whether he ever possess the ability to be a good qb. It two completely different things to me.

 

That’s true and we pulled for him then and will in the future but tgat doesn’t mean we can’t see reality.

 

To see if he will be good or not.

 

Yeah...you could really see that against FSU when he avoided contact by dragging half their defense 5 yards down the field.

 

That run was a thing of beauty and showed what AR was capable of. If he ran the ball like that all the time it would have made a difference. I don’t expect a qb to do that really but it was the most effective he could be as he didn’t have the pocket skills to do it without the run. He may or may not develop as a passer but I saw no improvement last year. He’s decent on longer throws but actually pretty bad on anything short and quick.
