My sister unwilling moved there(Spring) about 15 years ago and accidentally planted roots. She loves it there and has become a proud Texan.

most esoteric point to belabor, so many worthless words

the highest-drafted Gator QB in history since Spurrier will make so many “real” Gator fans cry

Spur was ‘67, the merger was ‘66 so AR is really the best Gator QB prospect in the modern era. Gainesville born & bred. just absolutely hated by Gator fans

    make it make sense

That was proving we could win with AR from the pocket.

Just need some comprehension skills to realize no one hates AR. Passing accurately on time and decision making are by far the most important parts of a qb. aR is not good in that area as of right now. We all hope he develops in that area as do the nfl teams considering him as a top pick. He clearly has superior athleticism to almost anyone to ever play the position. Athleticism won’t get you very far in the nfl though. It’s not beyond reason to have serious doubts about AR as he has never shown the ability to play qb at a high level. It’s all based of potential through the roof. Drafting him is a big gamble with huge upside. Of course gator fans would love to see him blossom into an elite passer. What odds do you think are fair that he becomes a top 10 passer in the nfl?

I’ll distill it for you AR has more athleticism than any previous QB and his stay in the league will be short lived like many before him

let’s go with this question - what evidence do we have that Billy Napier can coach an athlete like AR? Napier had a vanilla Pro-Style scheme at ULL and inherited a generational athlete at UF, who had a poor season passing.

the evidence shown last year was that Billy Napier is a very poor in-game manager and playcaller. starts of games were uniformly poor, second-half adjustments non-existent. going with just what we saw on the field, Billy Napier is getting a free pass for errors that fans on this board are blaming on AR. Utah game had the most cohesive gameplan, so Billy needs 6 months to prepare for 1 game?

I am going to blame the coach before the player, even in the era of NIL.

Prostyle and vanilla being used in the same sentence as some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. I guess they dumb it down for the professionals?

AR was able to light it up against Tennessee and FSU (despite that horrific 3rd quarter) somehow....

Which is it? Was AR able to overcome Napier's "vanilla offense" or was AR simply just what many saw, inconsistent?

It's also interesting to see people claim it was Florida's offense hindering AR but give no concern to the widely considered terrible scheme that Wisconsin ran.

So AR will get the benefit that he will grow and improve in a tougher league but Mertz is highly unlikely to improve despite leaving a run heavy terrible scheme.

    Ok then...

Mertz will likely improve. It’s hard not to improve when the numbers are so bad. It’s unlikely he gets to ARs level, but possible. But it’s doubtful he’s as poor as he’s been.

As another poster mentioned it’s up to CBN prove he has offensive chops. It’s clearly the biggest question mark with him. He’s been fired as an OC before and it’s well reported his passing game scheme is lacking.

Im also tired of the lack of objective analysis on this board. If a player or coach is at UF they are great but as soon as they leave they become the devil. Why is it so hard to remove the emotions?
