The case is still playing out, but the NCAA is going along with the preliminary injunction through this academic year.

Thanks, hadn’t seen that. If they’re not even threatening to penalize them anymore, I’d agree they’ve thrown their hands up. They’ve lost this battle whether they win the court case or not. Cat is outta the bag.

Shimmy came in and played a lot as a true freshman when Castleton got hurt last season. He's a big, strong kid, 6'-10", and can shoot the 3. But he wasn't ready for High-Major basketball last year. He suffered a foot injury in the summer and has been out since. He was cleared to play finally around the beginning of the year but the staff rightly have held him out to let him redshirt. We have 4 bigs playing at a high level and he wouldn't have cracked the rotation. The word was that he was much improved before the injury, so I expect him to get into the rotation next season.

We stand to return a ton of guys, especially if Rishwain gets a medical year. We’ve got a few flight risks, but I think Golden loves the potential for improvement we could see from the freshmen and sophomores. I am hopeful we don’t have more than four scholarships available.

Why? He is playing next to one of his best friends only a couple of hours from his hometown and is getting good NIL money. He likely won’t improve on that situation elsewhere, unless he decides to take a step down in competition level to get certain playing time at a program willing to pay. Those are long odds.

Before today, I had Aberdeen fairly low on my depth chart in this thread. Now I'm moving him up at both the 1 and the 2. I still think we'll look hard for a transfer PG of exceptional talent, but Denzel would be right behind him.

He was injured in the offseason or preseason practices. So he wasn’t even “cleared” until SEC play.

Based on last year’s play he would’ve needed a big jump to have cracked this years lineup. So with the injury setting him back I was never surprised they decided to redshirt him. Would be interesting to know how he looks in practice now.

He hardly played last year. His pre-college film is really good. He is a 6’10” 250 pound big man, who can shoot and pass and has good footwork inside.

You can't teach height. Micah is going to get stronger. Bet on that...

He can work on that upper body strength while rehabbing the leg, maybe he can gain 20 lbs of muscle and won't be man-handled next year

when you are 6'3" and can't play the point, the odds of being drafted are pretty low. I am speculating that Golden would give him first shot at being our point guard if he agreed to return.

Word out on the street is that Shimmy was much improved in the offseason prior to his injury.

So the guy that can't play guard will be our starting point guard? Got it.

Joking aside, I see your point....But one doesn't learn to play PG at an elite level in one offseason. And we need to think like an elite program - and no doubt TFG is doing that. I can, maybe, see him getting some minutes as the backup...but that's a mid-sized IF.
