Inaccurate. "This poster" sent his family to the states while he closed their small resort intending to follow soon after. His flights were cancelled one after the other, narrowing his option to a single flight out on a Russian airline if it too, wasn't cancelled. But his credit was maxed out from the tickets he had purchased to send his wife and 2 children to the states and his own tickets for the cancelled flights. The outlay of funds for the cancelled flights had not yet been credited back to his account. He was despairing of his circumstances and generous hearted posters on this site offered a donation of funds that enabled him to purchase the tickets he needed to fly out on the Russian flight that connected somewhere in Europe to another that eventually got him home to the US.

If y’all truly think “how dare you interfere with drag queens performing for our young children” is going to be a winning general election issue, you’re in for a surprise.

If you wanted to be really cynical, one could hypothesize that staking out these positions is baiting liberals into going all in on defending far-fringe issues that next to no one agrees with them on, which makes it even easier to run against “liberalism gone mad.”

 

I think you are missing the point. The OP played nice and convinced many posters to PAY for his way home from Maldives back at the start of covid. Many jumped to his aid. Some of which he now has had some rather unflattering labels for since.

I think 51's point is that if its so bad here, why was he begging for money to come home from there.

I believe helping him and his family was noble, but I think he should remember that when making the blanket statements on this board he is known for making since.

the Hyatt Regency and their guests have certainly been affected. Why should DeS get to tell us what we can and cannot see? Do you think that the drag queens did anything more provocative than what you would see in lots of public displays? Bikini contests? twerking contests? pageants? dance contests? cheer contests? this isn't a problem anywhere but in DeS head.

The winning general election issue is "how dare you try to outlaw free speech. Why do you hate freedom?" Normal people don't care about drag shows and think the Republicans are weirdos for obsessing over this stuff.

 

Drag shows with kids present is an issue in a LOT of peoples heads. Most parents would be my guess. Im with Ben above. Make it a strategy. Please!
