Florida is a two-party consent state (meaning all parties). However, the law in 80% of the states and Federally is that you only need one party to the call to give consent. There’s both criminal and evidentiary implications.

Even if the call was completely within Florida and didn’t involve another state’s laws, Gaetz is facing Federal crimes and the calls will not be excluded, IMO. Could Florida still prosecute the one recording? It could happen but I wouldn't want to be the prosecutor going after someone busting a pedophile while she was working with law enforcement. Not a great recipe for a conviction.

In a sane world we could all agree Hunter, Andrew and Gaetz are all tools.

If the call was done at behest/guidance of Feds law enforcement, the call should be legal in Florida.

Just curious on those that are engaged in mutual criminal conduct and record each other. Any exceptions due to criminal conduct and could call info still be used to guide an investigation vs use in court? Or used for witness impeachment?

 

Does the Mann Act apply if she was 18 or does that only apply to cases involving minors? If she was 18 and it was consensual, would it still violate some Federal laws based upon alleged travel and payments? I don't know how often people are prosecuted for such acts on the Federal level when there is not a minor involved - though state level arrests for prostitution involving adults are obviously common. It's interesting to me that the age of consent under most STATES' laws is 16 or 17. Apparently people think that's okay for whatever reason, but maybe that's another issue.

One of the biggest issues to me with the allegations about illegal drugs and prostitution is that someone in his position is opening themselves up to be blackmailed. I generally don't think drug use or consensual acts among adults should be criminal. So I'm struggling to be consistent here despite the fact that I don't like Gaetz or his brand of politics.

MAGA Pubs, in my opinion and my experience, are nowhere close to Reagan-ites. Reagan was beholden to truth, integrity, American unity and American resolve. Reagan was dynamic, charismatic, intelligent and mission-driven. Reagan understood and cared for all of Americans, including those that did not vote for him. Reagan valued American ideals and traditions, including one of the most significant democratic symbolism shown in the transition of power.

MAGA Pubs blindly adhere to Trumpian doctrine, untethered to truth or facts. MAGA Pubs fight and degrade anyone who disagrees. MAGA Pubs openly hope for civil war and discord rather than make even a first step to unify.

MAGA Pubs pout and whine when they lose, pointing fingers at everyone other themselves.

There is nothing similar to Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, with the sole exception that both were television/movie stars before entering politics.

 

As you can see, I am a fan of Reagan. I’m a fan of many great Republicans that followed, some of whom lost elections to lesser politicians, in my opinion.

Trump and his Trumpeteers are nowhere in the same book as the leaders of the Republican Party that I admired.
