I'd love to see Pubs governors take away the power from their city mayors to allow this sort of thing from happening in the first place. I think DeSantis needs to lead here. It's not what the property-tax paying citizenry signed up for, to see this kind of squalor (tent cities) in their towns and cities.

Remember when the Dems convicted sheriff Arpaio for building 'tent cites' to house criminals... That seemed to get the attention of the federal government and the DOJ got involved. But housing homeless illegals in tent cities is okay?

if migrants for whatever reason cannot be transported to sanctuary cities and states, they sure as hell should not be transported to cities and states that do not want them.

problem is these cities are in liberal run states, so no, they are allowed to do what they want.

I doubt they have to right to to supersede the governor, with the help of the entire state legislature, on DeSantis' side.

The homeless, and the residents too deserve better accommodations for these people. The taxpaying citizens have rights too.

Puts these tents near Nancy Pelosi's house or on Martha's Vineyard and see what happens to them.

Buckeye's harping on migrants and sanctuary cities is revealing, but it's obvious he doesn't care.

Yeah, but they never got the chance to pop up their tents and squat on public lands there... ;)

There are already busses headed to Florida to help with the hurricane cleanup. There will be plenty of well paying jobs. Desantis needs to charter a plan from El Paso

And I very much doubt he is impacted at all by migrants, other than lower prices due to the cheap labor they provide.

i care about the people who are US citizens first, then those who go by the rules as to how to become one, not mass stampeding accross the border.

Why? Because services that depend on low wage labor would be cheaper?

Yes. Because as stated in the Constitution, immigration enforcement is Federal jurisdiction only. Every local and state level LEO can choose if they wish to help enforce Federal law in conjunction with Federal officers or not help. What state and local LEOs cannot do is interfere with Federal officials, nor enforce Federal law without the Feds involved.

By the way, since this is a Federal issue, the Feds can ship the immigrants wherever they want. Sanctuary city designation is meaningless to the Feds.

What we should really do? Get businesses who need the labor involved. Get them to sponsor the immigrants, and help get them jobs plus places to stay. But the law doesn't allow any of this at current.

Yep. Sanctuary cities should be expected to put their money where their mouth is and eat the consequences of their own policy. And that means longer than 24 hours.

i am willing to bet there would be major, major political consequences if migrants are shipped to places, ie non sanctuary states and cites, instead of the holier than thou cities and states that say, and i mean say, maybe not really want, them.

DeSantis complained that they were only coming to Florida in onesies and twosies when asked why he had to go to TX to get immigrants for a Free Florida airplane ride.

Human history is the story of migration. Short of having a boarder like the East Germans had with guards ready and willing to shoot to kill everyone who tries to pass, you cannot stop migration. I submit this is the reason no administration has been able to some up with a workabke plan to do so short of a wall and armed guards all along it with orders to shoot and kill.

The original settlers who moved westward across the American continent were willing to take the land of others and to kill if necessary. Are we now willing to kill others who want in? If not, what is your plan and why hasn't it been implemented? (Don't say it's the Democrat's fault when you know full well that's bullshit. It was the fault of the right wing freedom caucus.)
