December 15 is the new deadline for release of documents related to the JFK assassination under the Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992 that have continued to be illegally withheld by the CIA and FBI. Even the well-known conspiracy theorist Donald Trump as president bowed to the wishes of the CIA, despite Trump’s known disdain for the intelligence community, to further delay the release of documents as required by law. These continued delays in obeying the law raise the obvious question (which may have an obvious answer): Who’s (really) in charge here? From Newsweek article: “In a Tuesday press conference at the National Press Club, Jefferson Morley—a veteran of the D.C. press corps and a preeminent expert on JFK's assassination with the Mary Ferrell Foundation—told reporters that he and attorneys with the foundation obtained documentation relating to a still-classified covert operation approved by senior CIA officials three months before Kennedy's death that suggested the agency used Oswald for intelligence purposes several weeks prior to shooting.… “The mandated release of records dates to a 2021 memo by President Joe Biden's administration ordering the release of all documents related to the JFK assassination after several delays by agencies like the CIA and FBI. Attorneys for the Mary Ferrell Foundation argued that the agencies have illegally stalled the release of more than 16,000 additional documents related to the case over concerns they could potentially compromise the names of individuals and the methods used in intelligence-gathering activities more than a half-century ago. "’I'm not crazy about the term the smoking gun,’ Morley said. ‘I think that's a bit of a cliche. It's not a term that investigative reporters use. But I think in this case, it's appropriate that what we're talking about here is not smoking-gun proof of a conspiracy to kill the president. We're talking about smoking-gun proof of a CIA operation involving Lee Harvey Oswald, that the CIA is still concealing in 2022. "’This body of records has profound implications for the official story of the assassination. Is the undisclosed Oswald operation evidence of CIA complicity in JFK assassination? Is it evidence of incompetence and understanding the threat Oswald posed to the president? Only full disclosure on December 15 can resolve this question.’" New documents shed light on CIA's connection to Lee Harvey Oswald
So the CIA may have used Oswald as an asset for something and they don’t want to release those records because it would reveal sources. Yeah I get it was 50 years ago but it is still plausible.
It would also reveal they are out-and-out liars. If it was all about sources, why lie about it? CIA Director Richard Helms (under oath, I believe): Lee Harvey Oswald? We never had a thing to do with him. In fact Helms was tried and convicted for lying before the Church Committee in 1975. He received a fine and suspended sentence. He later referred to his conviction for lying as "a badge of honor." In more recent times, the former National Director of Intelligence (whose name escapes me at the moment) lied under oath about I forget what. No accountability whatsoever, landed a nice job as a consultant with CNN, where he is on as a guest now and then to tell us like it is.
Is this summation based on feedback from Jefferson Morley, “expert on JFK's assassination”? I’m leery of journalists that delve into various conspiracies, especially jfk. Morley has a blog, “jfk facts”, and books on the topic. A lot of money can be made taking this position and selling books. His books….. Jefferson Morley a few of his articles….. Jefferson Morley
I wouldn't say that Jefferson Morley is in it for the money. He resigned from the Washington Post to devote full time to JFK assassination research. And his "JFK Facts" deals with just that, facts. He has never once said that there was a conspiracy in the assassination because he doesn't claim to know. But he has tried perhaps more than anyone else to get the facts, filing a lawsuit against the CIA for its refusal to obey the law by releasing assassination-related documents. Unfortunately a judge named Bret Kavanaugh ruled in favor of the CIA and its lawlessness. Is Morley's info about documents connecting the CIA to Oswald accurate? Hopefully we'll know if the December 15 deadline for releases is honored, but don't hold your breath. They might well tell Joe Biden what to do with his deadline, and he'll obediently do it.
May have? He defected to Russia and then was basically allowed to come back with his Russian wife like nothing had happened. Seems pretty obvious to me the CIA would have egg on their face if one of their assets shot the president. I doubt it has much to do with sources who are probably long dead.
