Trump's policies were screwing things up before COVID: The Trump administration was ruining the pre-COVID-19 economy too, just more slowly
Interesting thread, but some thoughts: It is my observation (locally at least) that many people knowingly upsized vehicles in the last 5 years. Their auto payments, insurance and gas costs increased substantially. They've since complained about inflation. Really? Isn't it more about lifestyle and budget CHOICES, regardless of who is President? Or supply and demand & auto and fuel market issues? Where I work, the number of super-sized vehicles that sit parked for 8 to 12 hours a day has mushroomed. And, on our local roads, I rarely see more than one person in a car/truck, unless it's a work crew or senior citizens. CHOICES. No-one is holding a gun to the consumer's head forcing them to buy the latest I-Phone model or SUV. Income inequality and wage stagnation notwithstanding, many Americans are caught up in our consumerism national pastime. CHOICES. FWIW, I drive a well-maintained reliable 18 year-old vehicle. Four presidents and counting ...

Part of that is due to the IRS Section 179 tax deduction. If you buy an SUV or other vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of more than 6000 pounds and 50+% of its use is for business purposes, you get up to a $30,000 tax deduction PLUS you can depreciate it. Sadly, the tax credit for EVs and some PHEVs, which actually do some good for people, the environment, country and planet will likely soon be eliminated, but you will still be able to get all sorts of tax benefits for buying a 3+ ton, gas guzzling behemoth. You speak in tautologies. Most Americans think the Biden economy is bad and Trump's was good because.....they are economically illiterate.
Housing prices are up 50% since 2020, about twice the rise in rents. Housing prices are not 8ncluded in the CPI (which understated inflation). Blame it on the Fed. Home Prices Rise Again, Up 50 Percent Since 2020, Double the Increase of Rent – MishTalk
That's a fresh take, I think. Something like : "Trump is all super good, but he's got some bad libbie parts in him that make him do adultery, rape and crime" ? Sounds like you guys are getting almost medieval, or ancient biblical, in your justification and love for your rapist idol. Very cool. It makes me happy to see you happy.
As someone who spends a good amount of time Offroad and in the backcountry many would assume I drive a jeep. But Stellantis scares me away. It has been run into the ground be terrible CEOs. The jeep brand has taken a beaten and is in trouble. I wouldn’t go near it right now. In fact I think it’s likely that Jeep drops the gladiator and a few other stalwart models.
The following line from Joni Mitchell's song "Big Yellow Taxi" comes immediately to mind regarding the Biden economy comes immediately to mind "you don't know what you've got till it's gone ". In less than a year the economic genius with the orange complexion will bring us the highest unemployment rate since early 2021 and the highest inflation rate since 2022. Once again it will be apparent why Trump's approval rating was 34% at the end of his first term.
I think people have figured out that the democrats, their media and Hollywood are FOS. America has spoken.
