Thread on US communication to Israel (Back channel) that they need a plan for what to after they defeat Hamas. States that unconfirmed reports that Gantz and Eisenkot are also requesting. Makes sense. Blinken is talking to the regionally interested parties and it would help if there was post vision to sell, given the civilian and infrastructure losses

Probably a stupid question but aren't we currently operating without like half of a Joint Chiefs of Staff thanks to dumbass Tuberville? Wonder who is making these calls

Not sure how that works. JCOS was originally a reform to try to limit the damage to effectiveness from interservice rivalry. Here we have naval aviation and I assume USAF (The Eagles).

But you really want to have confirmed occupants so they have some power and independence to standup to POTUS or Congress with their judgments, especially with any controversial policy. Doubt it plays out here, but I really don't know

As I said, I seek not to deny you of your right to enjoy being lied to and manipulated. Nothing in my reply to you sought to hinder that right and by all means, you do you. When “deniability” is your crutch, you’re admitting to being had. It’s perfectly fine that you’re okay with being had.

And you enjoy thinking it's best for us and our allies to have the President go on TV and share all the information available from our intelligence resources.
Let me guess, you think it's a good idea to brag about intelligence at dinner parties too. Maybe share top secret documents with donors.
    Brilliant gameplan

Stop being such a chode. As if it’s “intelligence” or “top secret” information that Iran fights its wars with proxies and are the financiers of Hamas. You are Exhibit A as to exactly why Iran fights its wars with proxies in the first place.

Can you prove they did it though? I mean, apparently school was out that day due to the holiday. That gives Hamas plausible deniability, right? Lest we show our hand too early, my friend.

Not entirely sure what you’re asking or stating. Are you saying because they attacked on a day kids were out of school they the written guidance found on dead
Hamas was made by Israelis to win propaganda war?

Agree. Let’s remember that next time we have a school shooting here, which I’m guessing will be soon.

I’m pretty sure you understand that’s not a great comparison. Though if anyone can legitimately tie together the scourge of mass shootings (let’s not limit the issue to schools) under the direction and organization of a politically motivated group that we could target through military means, then I am right there with you.

I was referring to equivocations. Which is exactly what a large percentage of our population and politicians do whenever our kids get gunned down in our schools. A lot of the same folks that now are applauding doing absolutely anything and everything, no matter the cost, to ensure Israeli kids never get gunned down again.

Sadly, nothing anyone does will ever ensure this never happens again. The best Israel can do is reduce the population of military-age males in Gaza to a manageable number that gives Israel time and space to work with a, hopefully, more compliant population for a generation or so. We are only talking about removing a tumor that is pressing against Israel’s spine. Fighting the cancer itself is a generational struggle for which there is no good answer, since most of the measures are also toxic to the patient.

Agree, but not really my point, which was hypocrisy and callousness. I find the images of kids being gunned down atrocious, hard to process. But we are treated to that grotesque spectacle on a regular basis. And a significant portion of our population simply shrugs and mumbles something about rights, mental heath, thoughts and prayers and opposes any sort of action.

Anyway, obviously off-topic so I’ll leave it at that.

I think we are probably in agreement. Although he has the right to free speech, he doesn't have the right to his position. Using an example from the other side of the political spectrum under the First Amendment neo-Nazis/White supremacists have the right to preach Holocaust denial, white racial superiority and the absurd notion that there is a Jewish plot to replace Caucasian Americans of European ancestry with people of color. They do not have right to positions in academia or for that matter any jobs.

You’ve nailed it. If this professor were spewing right wing hate speech, then he would already be out of a job. We can’t categorically denounce hate speech from one side and purge society of the people who speak while merely trying to understand the hate speech of the left. Fair is fair. This guy should be fired.

If he is tenured, that likely isn't true. Kevin MacDonald kept his job despite being a well-known white supremacist for quite a while and eventually retired (i.e., was not fired).

That is why some think tenure is abused in some cases. If someone is a known white supremacist or an anti-Semite, then their tenure should be over. No room for racists anywhere in academia. That goes for both sides.
