    thanks for the comment. But,
I don’t pay any attention to that poster. My comment was in response to the post that new housing in Israel has to have a safe room. I posted a fact about Benghazi that most people don’t know. I said nothing in defense if Hamas. Nor would I. That poster must have skipped my post discussing the Hamas Charter— which calls for the death of Jews anywhere. They aren’t about land. They are evil anti-Jews.

For what it is worth, I was told over the weekend by someone who had very good information on other subjects about this war that a cyber attack of some kind took down the early warning if systems in the border wall. I can’t certify it but the belief is that Iran did that. Time will tell.

The answer needs to be Egypt resuming full sovereignty. Gaza is Egyptian and has been for most of recorded history. Its people are Egyptian whether they want to believe it or not. There’s a reason that Egypt did not get Gaza back with the rest of the Sinai in 1979. It isn’t because Israel wanted the headache. It’s because Egypt didn’t. Once they are reintegrated into and policed by an Arab nation, I think it will go better there. And even if that is overly optimistic, well, nothing else has worked. And when world opinion inevitability stops Israel short of forcing Hamas to fully surrender, what’s happening now won’t work either.

I think it is far more likely that Iran did a cyberattack than Hamas, yes.

That's a bad ass emotional response which I get. However, history has many times shown that it's never as easy as we think.

Not really. I’m genuinely shocked that a reasonably intelligent person (defined in this case as someone with at least an Iron Age understanding of the world), even if they believed that nonsense, would not have the good sense to, I don’t know, wait a few weeks to post it. That shows either a criminal level of ignorance or apathy about what Hamas did on Saturday, including the massacre of babies. Right after the Death Star has blown up Alderan is not the time to express solidarity with the Empire and invite people to think of things from an Imperial perspective.

I'm shocked anyone would take a twitter post anyone can make (possibly in bad faith or as disinformation) at face value or representative of anything or anyone. Anyone that has screamed about Russian bots or social media manipulation in the past especially!

That’s the effect of the US sending a carrier group to the Mediterranean coast. We now have a carrier group there and one near the Persian Gulf.

All those people at the peace concert wanted peace. 260+ dead and many more kidnapped. Because Hamas is about killing Jews anywhere. Just like in its Charter.

I don’t know what they’re going to do. Maybe provoking us into attacking them is precisely what Iran wants, given their domestic turmoil. I want to make a direct connection between Iran and these events before going down that road. But if we do, I still don’t think a direct military attack is our best first option. I think first we undo a lot of the actions we’ve taken since 2021 to bring Iran back to the table, such as removing defensive capabilities from KSA (which pissed them off and didn’t really help things with Iran). Let’s tell KSA they’re back in the Goodie Room, that beheading only one journalist shows great restraint these days and makes them into a veritable Arab Boy Scout. Let’s turn the sanctions on Iran up to 11 and strongly incentivize (or secondary sanction, whichever they prefer) all nations who currently refuse to help isolate Iran. So that’s where I would start, with some soft power that does not invite the Iranian people to get behind the Regime. If we must use military force, let’s restrict it to Iranian targets outside of Iran, such as Hezbollah or on high seas. The Regime is not going get a rally-round-the-flag effect from our targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria.

Perhaps the Israeli goverment should honor them by not committing their own savagery in response and committing to peace instead of war.

Sure … peace by any means … including having your children blown to shreds and your women raped, broken and dead. Israel should just …. Talk with murderers, “Can we please be friends”? Maybe even send a box of chocolate strawberries?

Surely Hamas will melt with love.

This is false. Americans, even in the military, that intentionally kill civilians (non-military targets) must answer to justice. Murder is illegal in the United States and its military.

Well written fantasy. Hamas is not interested. They want Jews killed everywhere. Here is what they want. It is in their Charter. Here are excerpts.

    https://embassies.gov.il/holysee/AboutIsrael/the-middle-east/Pages/The Hamas-Covenant.aspx

    Anti-Semitic incitement:

The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him." (Article 7)

Rejection of a negotiated peace settlement:

"[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement... Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam... There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility." (Article 13)

sort of begs the question why Hamas was ever allowed to have control and ownership over any territory in the world, especially in that part of the world.

If a stranger dies and a minyan is needed, Jews will go to the funeral of someone they don't know if asked.

When Ariel Sharon left Gaza, Hamas was not in charge. It was left to the PA to administer. Israel left infrastructure. Almost immediately, the infrastructure was stripped for its scrap parts.

The PA was corrupt. Gazans chose the PA.
