Well, Biden letting Netanyahu drag us into war with Iran could be enough to spring Trump out of jail and right into the White House.

Are you kidding? They had no reason? Other than 1200 dead Israelis and a missile attack on their sovereign territory? No reason than just 24 hours ago Iran threatened to launch a nuclear strike on Israel?

Israel should bomb the Iranian military out of existence. That would be an appropriate message.

Bibi has made Iran the ultimate boogeyman for his entire career. He has always wanted the chance to neuter them, there was a zero percent chance he was letting them have the last word.

Yeah, "don't attack them." (wink, wink). Oh BTW, Palestinians, no U.N. membership for YOU!

Israel flew to Tehran and circled their military HQ and parliament right after Iran installed Russia's super, duper anti-aircraft system just to prove they could.

Yes, they could fly over Iraq and Syria without "permission".

If Israel did some measurable damage to Iran's nukes, it's on.

In all likelihood Israel struck military targets near nuclear sites but not the nuclear sites themselves to show Iran they have the capability of striking those areas, and Iran will try to save face by falsely claiming that the Israeli attack was carried out via six paper airplanes and Iran shot them all down.

It's already on. Iran's foreign minister told CNN only hours before this attack that Iran's response to any Israeli attack would be "immediate and decisive." But maybe we can count on him lying.

The fires burning at Isfahan being shown on TV feeds indicates that nothing nuclear was launched by Israel and nothing nuclear was struck in Iran.

Doesn't Syria have SAMS and Russian fighter jets to help defend their airspace?

When did Iran get nukes? How did everyone miss that?

Israel bombed an Iranian consulate and killed multiple senior Iranian military leaders in addition to leveling Gaza killing countless non combatants to avenge the 1200. Iran telegraphed their attack so it could be blocked. Israel could have taken the block for the win and moved on

I would say that Biden is screwed. And IMO this is all for the sake of Netanyahu's political survival. At the expense of Biden's.

Why is Biden beholden to Netanyahu’s success or failure?

To the first question: Beats me, but going through Syria and Iraq makes the most sense.

To the second: Safely? As in without prohibitive interference from the Syrians or Iraqis? (shrugs) Probably. But I know so little about what Israel actually did, how they did it, or what damage they caused, that it’s difficult to say right now. For all I know, Israel pulled this attack off with people and resources it smuggled into Iran months ago, and got around the distance and airspace problem that way.

Biden supports Israel, and therefore has to support Netanyahu, who the Israelis want out of office. What better way for Netanyahu to get all those protesters off the streets in Israel than to wag the dog? You know what wag the dog means, don't you? As was posted earlier, there was no reason for Israel to launch this attack. Iran had embarrassed itself with the almost total failure of its own retaliatory attack on Israel, so why couldn't Israel leave well enough alone and say we're even? Because Netanyahu is trying to save his sorry ass. And now Biden has no choice but to help him save it and put Trump's sorry ass in the White House.

Biden’s suggested “just take the win and don’t do anything” strategy was, at least IMO, never realistic.

If a country launches hundreds of ballistic missiles at you, there is next to no one who is just going to shrug and say “turns out your missiles suck.” Iran took a massive escalation step by launching ballistic and cruise missiles at Israel directly from Iranian territory.

All indications seem to be that, assuming this was the end of the Israeli response, Israel launched a very limited strike to send the message that they have the ability to put ordnance down in central Iran close to Iran’s most sensitive military installations notwithstanding Iranian air defenses. They appear to have delivered that message, and Iran is seemingly, at least for now, trying to de-escalate and downplay what Israel did (the seemingly absurd assertion that these were quad-copter drones, for example).
