Not vouching for the individual listings though I have not seen Foster's listing challenged factually. Could have missed it. And he includes links
Was There a Ceasefire on Oct. 6th, 2023?

Sure, let's give it a try, Palestinians started launching rockets into Israel in 2001. What preceded that second intifada? Why did Palestinians feel like fighting back was their best option?

Wasn’t the IDF tearing down the homes of the families of suspected “terrorists” during that time? At the same time they were allowing settlers (er terrorists) to steal the land of Palestinians and forcibly throwing them out of their homes?

I’d sure as heck choose the fight back option.

Lots of anti-Semitism rolling through too hot today. Feels like I’m at a KKK meeting.

It's not rocket science. One only has to scan the aerial/satellite footage of Gaza and see what's been destroyed and what hasn't been. When 95% of it is residential and civilian structures, it stands to reason the civilian share of the death toll is much higher than what the IDF is reporting. Hamas are scattering their fighters and have been mostly hiding in tunnels, so the evidence suggests the number of dead civilians far outweighs the number of dead Hamas fighters. Hamas are brutal. You think they're hiding civilians? Of course they are not. They are forcing civilians to allow them to hide amongst them. Yes, that is a war crime and yes, I am very anti-Hamas. I've long been extremely critical of the Obama/Biden approach towards Iran.

I'll concede that the rate of civilian death is likely somewhere between Hamas' number and the IDF's number. However, at this stage, I fail to see what it matters. Way too many civilians dying. Who stands to gain here more by skewing the numbers? Hamas or IDF? Hamas doesn't need to change perception. That perception is based on actual evidence. The IDF, however, has a LARGE incentive to skew the numbers, because they need to change the world's perception and they need to do it quickly. And this is the same IDF who had no clue October 7th was going to occur, but they are able to accurately separate the dead bodies in Gaza and give us a true count? Come on. Some of you will believe anything...

I've been pretty consistent in saying that there is no good side in this conflict.

There are no good guys here. Israel lost the high ground many years ago, and the guy in charge now is one of the primary reasons.
You can’t treat 2 million people like caged animals, tell them they have no hope of self governance and that they will basically be under Israel’s thumb for forever, take away all of their livelihoods for indefinite stretches when hamas or some other group attacks Israel, continually steal their land to move in more Jews, and then play the victim and demand more and promise even less when they act exactly the way you’ve conditioned them to. Netanyahu has successfully played that cynical strategy for decades, and it finally and deeply bit him in the ass.

And yes, the laundry list of Palestinian wrongs is as long or longer. No one defends terrorism, hostage taking, murder of civilians, giving power to groups like hamas etc. at some point they need to realize they are in a self defeating cycle and stop the idiocy. But if they did, what happens? Bibi still isn’t going to give an inch, so what’s their motivation? He’s still going to take land and box them in more, just with less resistance. They aren’t getting a state, and they still are at Israel’s whim. And even if BiBi leaves, the Israeli government is continually moving right, so the next guy is likely to be as bad or worse. So from their viewpoint, their Oct actions make perfect sense, however demented and despicable the execution was. The only way they are getting a state in their mind and stopping the land grab is to fight. Honestly, imagine you were under someone’s thumb with no hope of change, what would you do?

To say that isn’t anti Semitic (a cynical crutch to shut down debate by some nationally), it’s just having a basic understanding of geopolitics and human behavior.

IMO, at this point, it is in Israel’s best interest to agree to a permanent ceasefire in exchange for the release of all Israeli hostages.

They lock them in Gaza indefinitely without the ability to work, go abroad, or even to get food in sometimes. Call it what you will, and completely ignore all the rest of my post, but the point remains.

Doesn’t Gaza have a port on the Mediterranean and a border with Egypt?

. I haven’t posted here in awhile. But, obviously a terrible and tragic mistake was made in the attack on the convoy. Reports are that it was multiple shots by drones. Time will tell and Israel has acknowledged that. Mistakes happen in wars. That said, the US is 30+ times larger than Israel. 1700 dead on 10-7. If 54,000 Americans had been killed in a terrorist attack in 1 day, what do you think the US would do if the terrorists fled and blended into a civilian population like they are in Rafa? Would the US just cease fire? The reason for Hamas’ tactics are just this— civilian deaths increase the calls for a cease fire— which is their victory. That’s how they win— by surviving. The last thing Israel wants is to kill aid workers or slaughter civilians. But civilian deaths in an urban setting are inevitable. Accidents happen. As for your question about countries in that area— name another country besides Israel that has been present there for the last 3000 years. The answer is none. Since the Roman occupation at the turn of the millennium, the land has always been part of larger empires. I got sick of posting stories about Hamas operating on hospitals, schools etc. and certain people just ignoring them. It is a waste of time.

Egypt closes the border as often as Israel does. You are right, they have the port though, under Israeli control. Not that it’s a savior with all their needs anyway. But the larger problem is that many of them are dependent on Israel for work, goods etc. when Israel closes them off it’s a massive thing for them.

I feel like I shouldn’t have to do your homework for you. Entry by sea is controlled by Israel.

The US is building a pier for aid to be delivered without Israeli inspection. I’d like to see us build them a port and eventually hand it over to the free republic of Gaza.
