“Wonder if they’ll find Iraq’s WMD in Hamas tunnels ?”

Seems like a ceasefire would be possible if they decided the lives of the hostages were more valuable than revenge killings or not looking weak to right-wing Israeli voters. Or lets be real, if the USA told them no more money unless you stop bombing.

I posted upthread links to examples of the US bombing multiple hospitals in Mosul because they were being used by terrorists. Was it better to let ISIS thrive and its tactics prevail? Israel is held to a different standard.

ISIS came into being because we wanted to destroy Al Qaeda and invaded Iraq under flimsy pretexts, one of them being Saddam and Al Qaeda were connected and working together. No Iraq war, no ISIS. I dont know if Israel is held to a different standard, but they certainly seem to think their war on terror will work where ours failed.

Terror operations is clear. You don’t understand it because you equate Israel’s actors with what Hamas did 10-7. And because you don’t assess facts. Like the evidence that Hamas used these hospitals to hold hostages, store weapons etc. It isn’t ambiguous at all. We invaded Afghanistan because the Saudis who ordered it we’re taking refuge there and the Afghans refused to detain them. Stop apologizing for standing up to terror.

'Standing up to terror' (whatever that means) has only made this country worse, put more bodies in the ground, made the world more dangerous and eroded freedoms at home. You should assess those facts. I have and that's why I've taken my position.

RPGs mortars and weapons in a kindergarten. These are the places you say at off limits to those who would protect themselves from terror. These are the places you say are off listed to Israel. These are the places you say are where terrorists can store weapons to kill others who can do nothing about it. IDF locates more Hamas terror tunnels, uncovers info on Gaza hostages. And our country faces a much reduced threat from Al Queda and ISIS because it didn’t slow them to use Human shields as protection.

How can you even quantify this? I'm pretty sure there hasnt been another 9/11 simply because they lock the cabin doors now and beefed up airline security, not because we started 2 wars. Israel could have just built better fences and exchanged prisoners instead of doing what they did, probably would have been good PR for them too, might even be normalizing relations with the Saudis as we speak. But right-wing fundamentalists only think one way, just like the right-wing fundamentalists that attacked them. Like Bush and Bibi were going to outsmart anyone.

Thing about opinions is everyone has one and they still don’t qualify as facts.

Last I read, Israel would agree to 3 days at most and it stalled there

You aren't allowed to call it that, its a humanitarian pause in carefully-tested liberal consultant parlance

Maybe it's just me but the way the terms are being used "humanitarian pause" refers to a cessation of hostilities for a relatively short definite time period while "ceasefire" at least implies that a cessation of hostilities for an indefinite time. There is a substantive difference that goes a little bit beyond semantics.

I don't think its that, I think they jumped on "absolutely no ceasefire" pretty quickly and then concocted a way to call a ceasefire something different so as to be able to say they werent advocating a ceasefire. Its politics, they think people are stupid and are afraid reversing course will make them look weak or not in control of the situation. And of course they know there are plenty of people who will argue the semantics and people will argue about that instead of the actual thing.

The report today is that Hamas insisted that Israel not fly drones over Gaza during the pause. Clearly a term to allow them free movement without detection during the pause. Israel said no. Hamas has demanded Israel stop flying drones over Gaza in hostage negotiations, sources say | CNN Politics. You are responding to a poster who doesn’t post links, posts whatever information Hamas releases and endorses its tactics.

So what? Israelis speak Hebrew as a first language. Arabs speak Arabic. They speak English there

If Mexico was doing to us what Hamas did to Israel we would be doing the same maybe more to Mexico. Isis to the US isn’t near the danger Hamas is to Israel for a boatload of reasons. Think about a missile hitting DC or NY and an attack on LA citizens ala Hamas.

They arent doing that to us and we have politicians advocating a military incursion or using missle strikes

DeSantis doesn’t rule out using missiles against Mexico
