It’s a made up thing by you. After 9/11 there was similar messages that went out as we saw a spike in Arab American violence. People love to make the wrong person pay for the sins of another. It’s an important message. Thanks Kamala.

At that time I believe it to be lawful conduct in a time or war. Again, I would have preferred we nuked targets with more military value.

LOL. There is a huge rise in anti-Semitism so yeah, let's not discuss that right now...

Again, tone deaf. Shocking you don't see it.

They are trying to gloss over the fact they want Israel to stop killing any innocents. Impossible to do, but that's what they want, even if it leads to more Israeli deaths.

I was just thinking that I left that out. Should have started with, “other than Hamas.”

Have you been reading the thread?

"They have blood on their hands"
    "They elected Hamas"

Do you feel compassion for Palestinian civilians? I haven't seen you post anything to suggest you do.

Yeah, if you said something like "they voted for Hamas, they deserve this/they made their choices" I'm not sure compassion is a term you can use credibly.

Hard to disagree, and She probably missed the opportunity to be crystal clear.

You missed the point. The point is people are being attacked for expressing compassion for Palestinians.

Just on this page. These are the childish ridiculous responses I’m referring to.

“Impossible to do, but that's what they want, even if it leads to more Israeli deaths.”

    Actually, it is correct.

At its May 1945 meetings at Los Alamos, the Target Committee agreed that destruction of the selected target should succeed in “obtaining the greatest psychological effect against Japan:” “In this respect Kyoto has the advantage of the people being more highly intelligent and hence better able to appreciate the significance of the weapon. Hiroshima has the advantage of being such a size and with possible focusing from nearby mountains that a large fraction of the city may be destroyed”

    https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/nukevaul...and-the-End-of-World-War-II/documents/015.pdf

The prioritization of maximizing the bomb’s “psychological impact,” while still wanting to include destruction of military targets, was also present in the Interim Committee meetings later that month. According to the minutes of the May 31 Interim Committee meeting, Secretary Stimson concluded “that we could not give the Japanese any warning; that we could not concentrate on a civilian area; but that we should seek to make a profound psychological impression on as many of the inhabitants as possible … [T]he Secretary agreed that the most desirable target would be a vital war plant employing a large number of workers and closely surrounded by workers’ houses.”

    https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/nukevaul...and-the-End-of-World-War-II/documents/018.pdf

Perhaps the information was not actually shared among the Japaneses population as hoped, but that clearly was a major consideration in target selection.

You would think, but reading some of the responses on several of these threads, I don’t beleive it.

I’ll wholeheartedly agree it was poor choice of words. I’ll also agree 100% there is nothing honorable about what the Japanese did during WWII. I was trying to make the point that the initial attack was on a military installation vs raiding and kidnapping civilians.

curious why a 2nd bomb was dropped? Would one have been enough to keep the soviets from entering the theater?
