Sounds pretty good if you are a player.

 

Works both ways as it's also good for the employer, since the schools won't have to address an individual's complaint if it isn't part of the bargaining agreement.

Yeah, hence why we see it in basically every sport in the US. Also, allows a structure to be implemented to deal with the portal and player movement. The portal as is can't be sustainable.

The NIL is bad enough, but the idea of making these college student athletes employees of the state is out of the question.

 

Since players can use a portal, will a school be able to trade a player under that agreement?

 

But it won't really be associated with student athletes anymore. I don't actively cheer on the physical plant guys while they maintain the HVAC system, for example.

What's the plan in 30 years when the guys who graduated when cfb was cfb are dead or 65 and the current already apathetic students I wonder.

 

Take the schools out of it and call it what it is. NFL training league. Guys making more than NFL rookies, lmao. Draft, contracts and agents oh my

It will be interesting to see. Seems this is an individual university decision and therefore would be made by the President and Board of Regents.

Whereas "schools" like FSU might jump into this, respected universities like Stanford, Georgia Tech, Michigan, UF, Duke, Vanderbilt and others may take a hard pass.

 

Any kind of "draft" of High School players kills the entire point of college athletics. There is no sense of representation if the kids do not also choose the school. This fiction may be strained beyond the breaking point as it is. S&%t, I would stop watching.

 

Umm, hate to burst your bubble but it's been that way for 25 years. The same 10-20 teams have been vying for the top spots for championships and NY6 bowl spots.
We all know the teams. It's a rarity that a Rutgers, Purdue or Texas Tech level school is even competing for NY6 spot let alone a national championship.

 

Florida not paying enough now to get top players of need, surely should pass and be a traditional scholarship school with players concerned with learning something of value in their lives, not just money. Working for a living is better than having short lives due to brain damage and other things like getting lawyers to keep you from going to prison.

 

Yeah but he's a little older than say an 18 or 19 year old kid who doesn't have the maturity and all of a sudden has financial independence. I could see there being some I am rich I don't have to listen to coach. Probably not the norm but for some I could see it becoming an issue.

 

Some are mature enough to handle their money and be respectful, regardless of their age. Many aren't, and that's why they so often go broke.

 

With new college football subdivision proposal, NCAA finally admits its amateurism model is dead

“The next issue -- actually the issue -- becomes determining who can afford it. The FBS currently consists of 133 schools that have athletic budgets ranging from $19 million to $250 million. Beginning next season, there will 68 schools among the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and Notre Dame.

A new subdivision could conceivably include those schools. However, it could put budgetary strain on some of the lower-tier programs (financially), and other programs outside those 68 might be tempted to increase their budgets to join the new subdivision.

Cincinnati ($83 million) and Houston ($78 million) have the two smallest athletic budgets among current public Power Five schools, according to the USA Today database.”

 

Right on. Seems like things could essentially be headed towards the creation of an NFL D League, of sorts, and a watered down college game.

 

Maybe they make another division and call it the "College Football Division"

 

And zero need for any "Collegiate" organization to be sticking its fingers into the money pie.
