Those are the superlatives that Sam the Legend Riffice has amassed as a Gator. There will never be another person who graces the Ring Tennis Complex courts the likes of Sam!

Great match! Shelton stayed in the points longer and it appeared to frustrate his opponent. Both are super talented.

A great ending to an outstanding season. No we didn't win the national team championship and go back to back. However, we sure did win back to back singles championships and both of our best players went deep into the singles and doubles draw. Finished the season undefeated in the SEC for three straight seasons and finished number two in the only poll that matters the ITA poll. Most of you know that Tanner Stump is stepping down to devote more time to his family. A new assistant will be named very quickly and he is very well qualified to take over that most important job.

I really can not put that out until it is announced BTEGator but I can tell you that if everything works out the new assistant is perfectly qualified for the position, and I have no doubt he will be an excellent recruiter with his background.

Couple of ex UF players already local....Balogh and Kessler. Dave may have been away from recruiting too long, and Kessler just starting down the coaching path as a volunteer for the womens team. But one has incredible experience and one a lot of potential. Kessler could turn out to be a young Tanner Stump down the road, lots of similarities....but probably not ready yet.

Recruiting connections are so important these days in tennis just as it is with all the other collegiate sports. A head coach like Coach Shelton. who is a great developer of talent needs an assistant with experience and connections. It also helps if you hire someone who has excelled at his craft before he lands in Gainesville.

Stump was the perfect fit for all the reasons you listed....hoping we have the next version with the new hire.
So if Nefve ends up at UF....next year "could look" like:
1 Shelton 2 Nefve 3 Bonetto 4 Shelbayh 5 Greif 6 Grant 7 Braswell.........and 3-7 could probably throw in a hat at this point to see where they play. As it stands now that looks to me like several 5/6 ladder guys, have to hope some step up their game to play higher in the lineup.
Always exciting to see the next crop emerge, remember when it was Vale and Andrade, then Riffice and Greif

Nefve will be at UF next fall. We will see if another player ends up on our squad next season. If not we will develop those we have right now.

Portal can also be additive for a top ranked program here. One transfer that wants to compete for a championship can fill out roster nicely.

Would think every top assistant in country would want that job.
