I went to a restaurant yesterday for dinner. I asked them to change one of the tv’s to the csu vs maryland game. It hadn’t started yet, so no need to be fussy about them not playing basketball in March. They did have basketball going on all but two TV’s. While waiting on them to change the channel, I saw they had Duke vs Houston on a couple tv’s, and Illinois vs Iowa State on another. Hmmm, that don’t sound right. She changed the channel on the tv closest to our table to the game I requested. It still hadn’t started yet, so I was kind of watching the other games still thinking those matchups don’t sound right. Then I noticed the sweet sixteen/elite 8 floor logos. They were playing two games from last year, lol. Where they found these games, who knows. I just had to chuckle, at least they were trying. The game I was interested in was starting and she quickly took care of my request to watch it when I asked, so I didn’t really care. I did think about you and the meltdown this may have caused if you had entered the same establishment though. Ftr, it was not a sportsbar, just a family restaurant with a dozen or so tv’s.
I love the idea of trying to get tickets in the hands of fans related to the schools. I think the problem is that nobody outside of fans really care about that. They just want to sell tickets and make their money, don't care who shows up (attendance "encouraged"). The schools would have to take charge of this to make it an issue, but there's probably too much money involved for anybody affiliated to genuinely think there's a better way to do this.
