I think it’s the way she speaks. It’s like she’s speaking to a bunch of kindergarteners. Just my opinion though.
I can see that if we don’t win the games we should. We could’ve had more wins last year and better figure out how to win those. It’s hard to win all the close games for any coach and we don’t have many gimmes. We could win 7-8 games but four is definitely possible.
The only thing I disagree with is the need for Lagway. We have a decent / good qb and that was not anywhere near the top of our list of problems. Oline was our issue on offense and that was our strength. Weak pass rush, bad lb play and just blunders of lacking organization lost us games. Those things have to get cleaned up or everyone is going to lose hope.
Zook took over Spurriers team that had a qb that should have won a Heisman. Napier took over a team with a losing record that’s devoid of upperclassmen. Big difference.
That might happen. We also may go 5-7 and lose to really good teams. The eye test may say we are a much improved team. If we lose those games because we can’t line up and execute plays then that’s a different story. If the season is any bit encouraging, I doubt anyone writes that check. Folks without stacks of millions leaving their bank account may have motivation to fire someone but the guy with the money may have more patience.
If we lose 7 games it meant we went under .500 against a collections of teams with a pulse. Thats a fireable offense in Y4. You need to be able to be at least .500 in SEC play. If in Y3 you aren’t average there is a problem
This is the issue I had in the games last year. We sat on the ball at various times when we could/should have gone for the throat. How many times did we get the ball with 1-2 minutes left in the half only to run out the clock instead of trying to score? We seemed content with keeping the game close, instead of trying to put away the other team. When we needed to score, we seemed to be able to score. When we had a chance to pull away, we seemed to go conservative. Sure some of those plays may have worked if they were executed properly, but perfect execution on every play is a pipe dream at any level of football. Playing it close to the vest can limit mistakes, but it also keeps the opposing team in the game and can bring an element of luck into it. One bad bounce/mistake in those one score games is the difference in winning and losing. We will see if the playcalling changes next year and there is a sense of urgency, or if it is more of the same.
I hear ya about that. Our offense was pretty methodical and not much of a quick strike threat. Two minute offense didn’t look like it would be very effective. Mertz didn’t have a pocket to work with and playcalling was limited. If Napier ever gets seasoned talent and not obvious flaws that have to be play called around, maybe things will look different. I expect Napier will get that fourth year with Lagway getting his first starts. If we only win five or six games though this year, there’s going to be a ton of unrest and the pressure will be on a redshirt freshman . Most of the top twenty are in the sec and there won’t be an easy schedule for anyone. The way I look at it, he would still have to win with Lagway in his first starts even if we had won the eight games we should have last year. We won’t be on Bamas and Georgia level in 25 so we will still be trying to win 8 games or so.
