They are going to have to play better than the last four. We did some good things but were also fortunate. We didnt dominate lsu or ol miss.
Yeah, Napier hasn't done anything in the years he has been here to indicate he's a champion caliber coach (which should be the standard). Beating a few mediocre to bad teams, which was an improvement after losing a bunch of games. is not a resume builder. Maybe this year will be different but he has yet to do anything to indicate that will be the case. Yet, I'm sure the Napier apologists will want to give him another year if he has another mediocre (8 win) season.
They both have a process. One seems much better. I'll give you three guesses whose is working more better but the first two don't count.
Valid, but UF did win those 4 Wanne. Realistically he saved his job and managed an amazing recruiting run. I get it, as has been previously stated, Billy has made far too many withdrawals from the UF patience account. If he can get the Gators into the playoffs I suspect the heat will be off. The chair went from red hot to warm. It's definitely not "cool". LSU and Miami will be huge contests early. DJL better stay healthy for Napier's sake. Lets hope he gets it done on the field this year and turns off , the critics spigot.
It’s not that I don’t have patience, my deal is that I thought Napier was a bad hire from day one and he hasn’t done enough to change my mind. He has done some nice things recruiting and I think he is a high character individual but that’s about it and that isn’t enough to be HC at a school that wants to contend for SEC and National titles every year. 19-19 only reinforces my misgivings about him as a top level coach.
There's really unfair pressure on Lagway. He's basically playing for Napier's job. I hope the kid is up to task.
Whining started from the beginning because it was a terrible hire. I don't know if any school with 3 nat champs has ever hired someone so obscure.
I wouldn't even say he's "done some nice things recruiting". He's done better than Mullen (lately), but that's about it.
Put in the game plan that pile drive goal line play the Eagles used on KC in the first quarter for the TD. Looked unstoppable to me.
Development only looks promising? Have you noticed the difference in Haugh, Condon, and Aberdeen in one year? It's remarkable. Even Klavzar's improvement this year is outstanding
I guess this is the best place to ask this question... Are there still limits to the numbers of assistant coaches that Napier can have? Did that number change?
I can live with a coach having a subpar first year. Sometimes, it is expected. The difference is in year 2. Great coaches (Saban, Smart, Urban among others) have demonstrated this. If Napier had gotten 8-9 wins last year I would be optimistic. Didn't happen. I'm sorry guys I just don't see this being a success.
All of those coaches changed THEIR schemes to match their team talent. We changed the team make-up instead, and that took much longer. However, Napier still made too many unforced errors along the way.
In order for Napier to succeed here, we have to be an absolute JUGGERNAUT on defense, year in and year out, like Bama under Bear Bryant. Find that rarity of rarities, a take-no-prisoners DC who does not want to be a head coach.
