Thank you for identifying the real problem with our offense. Our o-line has not been good.

But everyone on this board thinks all we need to do is hire an offensive coordinator and everything will be fine.

Which makes sense, because as we all know, every offensive coordinator we have ever had has lit it up!!

Hiring an OC guarantees nothing. Not even improvement.

Cannot fire Billy no matter what the season turns out to be . Hope they won’t . He needs to have better game management. Truthfully if that area was better the season would have been 8-4 this year. But no it would be a death sentence if he is let go

I think our D lost three games this past year, not game management, although that could certainly improve.

Yeah, this last year we lost for a variety of reasons. A confluence of errors.

One of the issues - we couldn't score enough points to cover for the redundant blunders. We literally gave away three games. In the FSU game Brown forgot Pearsoll was a receiver. Arkansas was a blunder beyond belief, that should have never come down to a field goal. And Etienne, as good as he was, he was pretty crappy protecting the QB. I remember seeing our DB (the Georgia kid) waiting to see if the QB was going deep before covering a guy. That isn't bad technique, that's called lazy. That's do stadiums for three hours after the game and help pick up garbage, type of infraction. We hardly ever got to the QB either. But our QB was running scared for most games. And, he managed regardless. Defensively, we were so far out of position, we would be better positioned on the sidelines.o_O:confused: And, quite frankly, we are light on talent in some spots.

During the Meyer era, we just willed ourselves to first downs. Tebow took over, so did others. When it didn't work the Promise was made.

I really think DJ Lagway is the next Tebow. And, quite possibly, maybe even better.

My hope is DJ will save Napier's ass. That is if he uses him enough. And, when his stuff shines it will bring in the kids we'll need for the future.

A couple stud linemen in the portal would be the final missing pieces in the spring.

Then there's the groveling to the Lord part. Cue groveling.:)

    Go Gators.;)

    Hell No!

I hated that offense. It looked great with Percy but I want an offense that we have a chance to convert a 3rd and 10.

That offense only looked bad when the Divemaster took the reins in 2009. To be a very good offense, it (like all single-wing style attacks) requires a special talent handling the ball each play (TB or QB). That's why it looked so good when Cam or Tebow ran it and not so good when John Brantley (a drop-back QB) was in the position. If that mental giant Muschamp had not decided to be cute and found a spread OC to run his offense in 2011 it would have been a great situation with Driskel coming in soon.

Both sides could have created different outcomes. Much more so the defense though.

I think the defense and special teams issues will be addressed for the upcoming season. Getting back to the offense. The plays are good ones. The problem is that they are called at the wrong time and can be very predictable. I think Napier has the picture, but needs someone who can feel the progression of the game to call the plays. I am thinking this is what some of you are trying to say.

There was article I posted awhile back (sorry I can’t find it) about his firing as OC at Clemson. It basically eluded to a lot of things people have issue with. Predictability being one.

A couple of things of note:

Billy was only a OC & play caller for 2.5 seasons prior to landing a HC gig. A season and a half at Clemson before he was run by Dabo and one season at Arizona State. Billy thinks too highly of himself as a play caller, imho. He should step aside and focus more on all aspects of the entire team.

Billy was the WR coach at Colorado State for Jimmy Mac for one season. When Jimmy Mac got the UF job he tried to hire Billy to his first staff as a WR coach again. Billy was the WR coach at Alabama and told Mac he would if he could be the OC, Mac balked.
