I don't expect a night and day change in the OL, but a slight improvement is a must-have. Hoping for a night and day change in the D as that's where we lost the games!
People are entitled to their opinion. My pet peeve has always been the play calling. Way too predictable at times. Run when should have been pass.....and vice-versa. Decision making on various downs on what play to run.........especially 4th downs! I realize players have to make the plays....but the play callers job is to design the plays to fit and maximize what he has on hand. If we're not moving the chains......we're doing it wrong.
In the span of just a few weeks, Ryan Day, who is considered an elite offensive play-caller, hired not one but two top flight OC / play-callers. This after only losing 2 games last season. Why can’t/won’t we hire just one of similar ilk?? Billy will be the primary play-caller on offense again for the 24 season. https://247sports.com/college/flori...-hire-russ-callaway-gators-offense-226912602/
Now we know CBN's choice for OC names: Tanner if a boy Valentine if a girl And Whitley if not assigned gender at birth.
Two things 1. I don’t think he could attract anyone 2. I think if my ass was on the line I’d probably be more comfortable calling the plays myself. Just my opinion. It probably stinks.
We all witnessed the flameout hubris of SharkWake. Hopefully we get some W’s this year on an upswing and not same ole
"'Billy will be the primary play-caller on offense again for the 24 season."' Congratulations in advance to Graham Mertz for another 73% completion rate season.
Billy is really bad at calling plays. Even his past head coaches at Clemson and Bama recognized this. For some reason, Billy is too stubborn to let go. He needs to get over himself.
This IS the reality of the way things work. It is a VERY slippery slope. And that is why the biggest worry last season was his lack of urgency in just about everything. He either does not get all the dynamics of major college football or he is arrogant/stubborn and now he is suffering the fate of it.
Why should there be any urgency? Fail and get rich. On the off chance that you succeed, get rich. He is going to play call himself into generation wealth.
Bear Bryant said that the best coaches are able to adapt. Have yet to see this from Billy when it comes to offense. He seems determined to continue to do the same.
A big problem in CFB for sure but not Billy’s doing. I continue to insist that his bogus buyout contract guaranteed Stricklin’s job security, not Napier’s.
