I just heard on the radio that Myreon Jones has been playing with a broken finger all year and has just now healed, which is the reason for his vastly improved shooting.
In some of the game threads, I’ve been particularly harsh on Jones, but his shooting and confidence has been lights out the last few games. He’s a big reason we’re on our win streak.
Jones and McKissic have been underperforming and it's the biggest reason we've been struggling IMO. Need both of those guys to play with more confidence down the stretch.
The broken finger would explain a lot. Hope he can keep lighting it up the rest of the way. I was just as impressed with all the little winning things he did last night. As for McKissic, I watched the exhibition game and he was shooting pure 3s and swishing them that night. I was thinking he'd been way underrated as a shooter. But, alas, that was the exception and not the rule.
Typical bad coaching. It's Mike White's fault. Any decent coach would make sure that finger was properly reinforced. Just goes to show you how bad a coach he is and always will be.
Despite missing one game, Jones actually leads the team in minutes played as well as average minutes played ( just barely edging Castleton). Not sure how much sense that made if he had a broken finger, but he definitely seems to be coming around. As for McKissic, I remember him being hobbled by something earlier this season, and while he hasn't missed any games, I suspect he isn't 100% either. 2021-22 Men's Basketball Cumulative Statistics - Florida Gators
