3 things for Gators to build on after terrific offseason. Gators Look to Build on Encouraging Offseason - Florida Gators
The others are that bad, huh? Chris is OK, but he tends to be light weight with offering statements with little substance to support his presumption. He talks about the focus on defensive improvement and mentions the new assistant from a year ago and that additional time will be allocated to D. More depth on this topic is warranted, such as what does the new-ish guy bring to the table RE: Defense? Is being the "defensive coordinator" new for him THIS year? Did he share philosophies with football staff last year? In another article this week, he maintains the story that Clayton was a highly sought after 5* safety. I understand that Rivals had Clayton as a 3* safety with 6 offers; not exactly the story line that reporters want to maintain just because it makes for a good "story".
Not to mention this is NBN, a free service. Any insider information we get on this team is a gift. Probably more appropriate to be grateful than complain, but what would the internet be without people complaining. Where would they vent, to other humans in real life? Their mom would just reply by telling them to move out of their basement and get a job.
The “new assistant” (your words, not mine) was not the so-called defensive coordinator last year. Put in charge this offseason.
OK, now you're just taking what I said out of context. Your words: "John Andrezejek. He's in his second season as a UF assistant" and my words: "new assistant from a year ago", which by my reading comprehension has the same meaning. My question to you, again, is what does he bring to the table to help our defense. I'm merely asking for more substance is all. Was he a good Defense guy where he came from???
Certainly can't disagree with the first part, but guess as long as it's a gift, that I would like it wrapped up a tad better. Maybe my comments could/should be taken as constructive criticism so a better product could produced next time. Slam on CBN's "central Florida basement folks"?? Haha! Was also looking to respond to GatorPlanet's (my brother, btw) comment in where the 5* comments was in the Alijah Martin article. And yes, Clayton had offers from a few top schools, he only had 6 offers (per Rivals) so it was not like a long list of top schools.
I guaran-damn-tee you, if Walter got offers from UF, Notre Dame, UT, et al, he got a lot more from others. Book it. Rivals doesn't list every school...the post would take ten pages. I see you are now changing your claim about Clayton to a claim about Martin. Okay, whatevs. If Rivals had him as a 3-star DB, and my own recruiting service gave him 7 stars, the average makes him a five-star prospect. Case closed. You can't dispute the math.
No bro, not changing anything; you asked where the 5* claim was made and I told you it was in the article ABOUT Martin.
What does saying that have anything to do with anything or add to what he'd already said? That's like saying post-morning instead of afternoon. Do you think using more words to say the same thing looks more intelligent or something?
In an attempt to move past the above brouhaha, I'm posting Nick Marcinko's notes from yesterday's practice. Some good reading. Insider notes from Florida basketball’s preeason practice | GatorCountry.com
