Went to sleep about 1:30 am....I watched the pressers from both teams the end of the game multiple times. Woke up this AM and picked out layers of Gator gear to wear to a meeting and then to the office. Walked into the kitchen and kissed my beautiful wife who was wearing that cute blue Gators shirt that I love and my son walks in in a Gators hoodie. Our daughters (19 and 21) had already headed out for silly things like school and work our oldest actually headed back to her apartment late last night for an early class this AM. I assume they also were Gator swagged to the T. I then paused in the kitchen and said, "Alexa, Play We are the Champions" as I walked out the door. I arrived at the meeting and promptly asked a few people "what time the Duke game was last night and how did it go?". I may have mentioned to a Carolina buddy that "it was pretty cool seeing the UNC AD hand the trophy to the champs huh?" My son has a baseball game at 4pm where I will come rolling in looking like I own the team shop. But fear not. I am not alone....plenty of "Go Gators" greetings will be had all over town as there are many of us here. I will fire off some texts to my sons basketball coaches, as well as a certain coach my son gets to work with at NetWorks Basketball who happened to once work with one Walter Clayton Jr....and thank him for working on Walts shot that summer! Oh and it is an absolutely stunning 67 degree spring day with pure blue skies. The only thing down in my world today, is probably my productivity.
Living in Knoxville, as I do, I have had many, many such days in the last 30 years. Today I went understated with my belt with the big Gator buckle and my old UF swimming warm-up jacket. Drinking coffee out of my 2006 Basketball NC coffee mug. Not many "Go Gators" here but I wouldn't want it any other way.
Another thing to brag about, the SEC dislodged the ACC as the conference with the most wins in a given NCAAt.
As most know, I'm stuck in East Tennessee. The UcheaT crowd got quiet when they were beaten as #1 . . . but then started their mouthing again when they won the second time. They were typical cur dogs right before and right after the SEC Tournament and went into witness protection (NO vomit orange to be seen) after they played Houston. Tournament? What tournament? My grandson has a middle school baseball game this evening and they will ALL get to see my Gator shirt and cap and get reminded about that same Houston team in THE Tournament. No fanbase (except maybe the Tallahassee clowns) hates us winning worse. LOL!
I've had better-than-usual interactions with Vols today, and two pointed out that the two teams playing for it all last night were the last two they played. I assume this line of succor was being spewed on local sports talk this morning and it's a good thing. But I don't know why.
Awesome! Gonna be fun wearing my Gator Natty attire in the Triangle area over the next 12 months. One might say we'll be nattyly attired!
