So pointing out that a celebrity "activist" stops being an activist when it hurts his billionaire bottom line is stupid? Pretty sure that a political bias on your part, not mine. Ehat Bron did was wrong. He has copped out on China. Pointing out the comparison isn't off base at all.
That wasnt really my goal here. I find Musk an insufferable "genius". I really just wanted to point out he isnt alone.
That part highlighted is already in place. The problem is that benign free speech is being "mislabeled" as hate speech. Basically most of out Right side on politics is being shut down by Twitter's old guard.
Typical Republican nonsense. There's no duty on activists, including LeBron, to speak out against some completely unrelated, foreign problem in order to have credibility in challenging an issue here in the U.S.A.
A lot of Republicans hate the fact that Lebron speaks out about issues affecting the black community (as he should, since that's his community and Republicans sure as hell don't care about that community), so they use his silence on China as a way to get back at him. They're so transparent with their agenda lol
I have a visceral dislike for Lebron, and it comes from the fact that he seems completely to lack self awareness on things that matter. Who decries racism and then posts anti Semitic lyrics to Twitter? Or again rightfully stands up to racism but refuses to stand up for other groups when people in his own league say or do bad things? Or not realize that publicly dissing your home town on live TV may not be a good idea (and then blaming it on racism btw). Or blame racism, sexism, or sexuality for why no one was getting BG from Russia when a white dude has been there several years with a fraction of her attention or effort? The irony being that with the China incident, he said he only speaks on things he knows about. Which basically makes my point for me So he never takes the time to uphold his own place in the culture and say/do things that unite instead of divide. Or at a bare minimum speak on things consistently and intelligently. And yes, that can be done, especially by someone who has been given so much and isn’t dumb by all accounts. Athletes or no, if you are speaking with that big a megaphone, understand the issues. Even with some of the things he has faced, which shouldn’t be minimized. that’s just me.
You have your opinion on him, and that’s fine. He’s a polarizing figure that people either like/don’t mind or flat out can’t stand. Such is the life of an outspoken celebrity.
Yea but look how successful the deflection was, however stupid and illogical. You have Elon over a couple of weeks saying, I’m pulling my satlink for Ukraine and they should accept a Putin modus vivendi, Taiwan should capitulate to Chinese rule, and supporting Kanye (and not backing off) after Kanye starts on death to Jews. Elon advocates relegating millions of currently free people to totalitarian rule. And someone says this makes Elon just like Lebron. And everyone talks about Lebron.
I guess it depends on where they get that honest fact. If someone is just spouting what they heard from a guy on Youtube, that's not a honest fact. IMHO
