You may very well be right. But the fact remains as we continue to take away tools from cops, they are more likely to default to their gun, for better or for worse.
the bum will have his day in court. I predict his only defense will be he was in fear for his life even though he’s a solidly built ex marine and the street guy is an emancipated unarmed mentally ill dude. It’s laughable. This plays out all the time on the subway (I’ve seen it) no one kills the dude.
NYC isn't where you live I'm guessing. As the Police Department continues to deal with spikes in major crimes and a mass exodus of cops, response times to all “crimes in progress” during the past fiscal year ending June 30 increased from 11 minutes and 40 seconds to 12 minutes and 44 seconds – or 9.1%, according to Mayor Adams’ first management report. NYC response times to crimes, fires and medical emergencies soar
I was right (Again) the Neely dude was built like a twig saw a video him moon dancing as Michael Jackson. (Not to shabby)
I wish we could give cops ways to avoid shooting golden doodles, but they seem to enjoy shooting dogs, so I'm not sure it matters.
This is pet peeve of minE, cops are terrified of dogs writ large and will use any excuse to kill them. A home owner would have an affirmative deference to shoot the cop (much like “I was in fear of my life”. Vs “he killed my dog!”). The latter is more reasonable IMHO.
Can you point to a single witness who has claimed that Neely physically attacked another person on the subway? If not, what did the killer feel compelled to do?
No one on this site knows what happened we are all drawing conclusions on reports wait till the details fully come out the guy was nuts and a criminal
Kill him it appears, it’s the only way to stop an unarmed person half your size. Especially if you’re fresh out of the USMC. Will be interested to see the terms of his discharge.
Yep, happens all the time. I can only imagine the homicidal rage I would feel if they did that to my pup, who will tend to bark it anyone coming up
Yep, every one of them has agreed on that point. Many people feel very uncomfortable but no one has said he even came close to assaulting anyone
Great post. Witnesses said Neely was making threats and harassing people and it has been reported that at least five people called 911 before and during the time he was being subdued. Neely was also yelling that he “didn’t care if he went back to prison” so let’s get away from the narrative that he was just yelling for food and water. The fact is that while the subway riders obviously had no clue of Neely’s violent history, at least several riders felt threatened enough to not only call the police but also at least three others felt the need to subdue him for the safety of others.
Looks like they're already trying to come up with what they need to make him a threat, whichever one is waiting for so that they can pretend they're judging it from a factual basis.
sick how many dogs cops kill. I delivered pizza for a long time & I delivered fuel oil (usually in backyards) for a long time. Despite some encounters including some scary ones, it never crossed my mind to hurt a dog. If you are such a snowflake, don't be a cop.
Several riders felt threatened by Neely’s aggressive behavior and the “bum” stepped in to subdue him until police arrived. I’m sure the last thing the Marine wanted to do was wrestle with some homeless guy on the floor of a dirty subway car but give him credit for trying to do the right thing. And you “see it all the time” so I’m sure you’ve also seen innocent people get assaulted on the subway. Heck, Neely was guilty of doing that exact thing less than two years ago when he punched a 67 year-old female stranger which luckily resulted in only several broken facial bones and not an innocent senior citizen losing her life.
wow. didn't see this coming. I recently listened to an 8 hr podcast about the clash which reminded me what a peculiar alb this is. I used to think if they'd stripped this triple alb down to 1 alb, it would be pretty cool. I have revised that to an EP. Having said that, it is great that exists.
It was at least a good double album. And that song is perfect for this. Love that album, go back and forth between the first eponymous album and of course London Calling. My family has never understood it but my daughter was all excited for me when she watched the first season of Stranger Things which had a Should I Stay or Should I Go story line. I didn't have the heart to tell her where that song ranked in the pantheon for true fans. What was the podcast?
