Think this would be a bad move by Beamer, you don't work so hard and trumpet your culture change and then bring in a guy who will pretend to care, but is only self serving. They could make some awesome videos....Tik Tok Shane and Darth Mullen.

This is hard to imagine, but I do think Mullen would be happier just being an OC.
But many times ego trumps common sense.

Agree. Those are the types of schools where I though he might land. He would be a great HC hire for a G5 or lower level P5 school.

Kinda like Muschamp ending up at Georgia. Would make SC better. I think head coaches and position coaches are more crucial to recruiting than OCs.
Good head coaches bring reputation and stability; position coaches are the guys in the trenches that develop the players and the recruits know it. OCs are sort of no-man's land game-day big picture guys. I could see Mullen heading to SC on the way back up to a mid-size school head coaching position. Don't expect him to stay long though.

I think Ego would be a part of him taking a job like this, he'll show Florida how wrong they were.

I'm def not suggesting he wouldn't excel in the role, I just don't see him taking it. He doesn't seem like the type that would want to go back to working under a head coach.

If he did take the OC job at Bama, look out, because the guy can scheme it up on offense. I doubt Bill O'Brien does much on the recruiting trail either, so that would he another perk in Mullen's eyes I'm sure.

He who should remain nameless shouldn’t keep getting named in threads. Unless it is for quitters ;)

I would hate to be a coach's wife/family, having to move every year or two. At least at Mullen's level the money is great. Very few put down long term roots.

As for Mullen and SC, doesnt make sense for either in my book. Too big of a gamble for Beamer and a quick way to kill the culture. Would last one year at most, then a new OC would change the offense again.
As for Mullen what if the offense sucks, it kills his rep as a QB whisperer. He's better off pontificating on ESPN and collecting his paychecks or coaching some HS team till a good D1 HC job opens up.

I'd love you have Mullen as our OC. He is a great offensive mind. He just isn't a very good recruiter or head coach.

I’d rather have him as an analyst where he has to do nothing but scheme and draw up plays. Wouldn’t want to be dependent on him for any coaching or recruiting responsibilities.

I heard this about a week ago. I didn't want to be the one who posted it. I wonder if this is true.
