Seems odd to me. As OC he'd be a top candidate for any job across the country. If he's gonna take an OC job why do it at SCAR? I guess stranger things have happened.
If he’s just calling plays and just tend to the offense I could care less. Shane has a lot of good recruiters on staff. plus, if he is the guy everyone knows 2 years he will be gone. Maybe not even 2.
There must be some agreement or contract to hire former football coaches at UF to come coach South Carolina.
Hmm, I'd figured he'd do Bama OC, but USCe?? Is there some rule out there where our ex coaches have to do time at USCe or something?
I still believe it will be Kendall Briles at Arkansas.. that’s the name that seems to be the most consistent. he has ties and a friendship with our WR coach Justin Stepp when he was at Arky. Graham Harrell at WVA is another.
Mullen is a great OC - you can have a couple deadweight recruiters on staff as long if they’re X & O savvy. we were pulling in top 5 classes every year with Mullen, Gonzalez, and Hevesy on staff when Urban was here
Ego is too big to take an OC job, unless it were Bama. I think he could still get a mid tier P5 job if he wanted it, not so sure he's itching to get back into it yet though, cashing them checks is easy work. Cincinnati/boston college type job would be about right.
