Movie Recommendations - not necessarily too hot

This riff got started because he said all the Coen Bros stuff was good until after Oh Brother, so I was mainly talking about stuff that came out after that. I dont know if Arizona would make my top 5 Coens, but its definitely great.

 

I don't think you can stop and say after Oh Brother movies weren't as good. As much as I love the Coen Bros., there are some that I didn't care for (Barton Fink, Serious Man) but they are batting 900 or so with me.

 

Yes, PD was being absurd. 2 of their best movies came out after Oh Brother.

 

Maybe not--was just having a little fun in terms of KF Theatre.

You prolly didn't see it, but here's the last part of my post on rec's--your rec prolly fits right in with those (the cheesy KF-T flicks was more directed at the 13 disk 47 movie collection I referenced, and prolly a couple listed below, like the Man with the Iron Fists, and the Last Dragon--but most of the others are respectable, serious cinema).

 

I’ve had enough of that since 2009.

 

I'll also give all if Twin Peaks Season 3 a shout out. It was sort of an 18 hour movie.

Both, waaayyyy ahead of their time.

I'd add Dreamer, War Horse, and Seabiscuit to list of great horse movies.

Haven't seen that yet, but reminded me of Lion. Great movie based on true story of kid getting left at train station, separated from his family, and finding them decades later, using google earth. That one moved me deeply.

 

I love all Coen Brothers movies, but I am seriously troubled that they always worked with Scott Rudin and will not say anything now

 

When I'm in one of those moods, these work quite well for me.

Dumb and Dumber. Pure brilliance in stupidity.
White Chicks. Gotta love the Wayans brothers.
Fargo. Hit very close to home. I need to get me some night crawlers.

 

Sergio Leone should probably pay royalties to Akira Kurosawa. This is a complete film, action, comedy, drama, and suspense. I'm surprised how some goofy parts didn't distract from the movie in any form. I mean, a dog is running down the road with a forearm hanging from its mouth, and I'm here for it. If you didn't already know, you'll become aware after this; Toshiro Mifune is a legitimate movie star.

 

With that recommendation, I'm starting it now.

 

Went to theater today for first time in 15 months. Quiet Place 2. Was really good. Super tense like the first one. Loved being back. Go Hollywood.

 

Just watched Captain Fantastic. Very interesting. I would have loved to have been raised like that.

RDJ is hilarious. A movie like this can never be made now.

We just saw Somewhere in Time this morning. Holy shit, hadn’t seen it in 15 years and it delivered.
The more I review movies to my liking, the more I realize how much I enjoy slow-burn and time-travel movies...

nice. you see “Butterfly Effect”? In that genre. It Might be my entry for “Underrated movies”. Not great reviews but I dug it. Although good audience reviews.
