Label it however you want, but actions with the goal of making sure all have a level playing field of opportunity while going through life are worthy IMO. Sometimes they are overboard and counter-productive, and that should be called out and debated, but it's wrong-headed to throw out the baby with the bath water. Also, how is it a bad thing for the population to be more informed on the historical experiences of everyone, not just the winners or elite? Again, historical "takes" should be critiqued, especially if they come with an over-the-top bias or agenda, but book bans and bans on informing on the experiences of the marginalized? Explain how that is a bad thing. This is the problem with lumping everything you are uncomfortable with as woke and wanting to ban everything. It's a lazy approach with the goal to rile up the natives so you can win an election. Instead debate each idea and transform/optimize/evolve. I think the general majority gets this. It's not really a liberal or conservative concept, it's a human one.
I use woke in jest. Example would be me doing something dumb, realizing it, and commenting “if I were woke I wouldn’t have done that” followed by a lol. Most people I know use it the same way. I know this may come as a surprise but most people don’t frequent a message board all day discussing political issues.
Not really pointing fingers. Just found it mildly amusing that you disliked citygator's post that just quoted an attorney working for the Florida governor pretty clearly defining the term "woke." Presumably because you weren't able to disagree with that attorney, you simply "disliked" being shown that, when required by a court of law, Republicans can clearly define woke for what it was originally supposed to mean, directly contrasting with how they use the term in campaigning as the catch-all boogeyman replacement for "Democrat policy/position."
It absolutely is that for many Republicans. I honestly can't even remember the last time I saw a quote or comment from a Democrat politician discussing being or pursuing something "woke."
Right wingers have a lot of suppressed urges that they don't want to face. They assume everyone has these urges so banning the source of them is more appealing than acknowledging some things about themselves.
That's Milton Berle probably from a television show in which he appeared back in the '50s or '60s. I saw him on tv in drag as well as Flip Wilson playing the Geraldine character and the movie "Some Like it Hot" all of which multiple times when I was a child or in my early teens. I don't think the experience affected me or my contemporaries negatively.

I understand all of it. Pubs needed a general word to describe the nonsense that you guys push. The agenda you push is provocative, therefore the word is negative. The history of the word is completely different and not being discussed to my knowledge.
