I think you will be fine. The human body is very adaptive. The hate that all Gators should have for Miami presents a subconscious struggle within your body. On one side it needs to express itself, yet most non-Gators will ridicule as they simply do not understand. On the other side, decorum and civility preclude release of such expression.

Don’t worry. You are among family and close friends here. Embrace and share those inner feelings. You will be helping hundreds of younger Gators learn what us older ones have known for decades.

This is all the fault and foreseeable consequence of each school and each fan (me included) for first accepting, then embracing and supporting, the disingenuous farce of student-athletics.

Almost all of these guys and gals (at the post secondary level) are given favored admission opportunity to so-called academic institutions for reasons that have nothing to do with academics - and without which they would not be admitted. Some are aided by degree programs which hardly qualify as such. The fact that schools participate in this practice - just so they can slop at the trough of money that athletics provide - should be a source of shame to them. But it's not, and now here we are.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls....

I think about a year ago the entire John Bosco high school football team got NIL deals, the first of its kind, but how did that work with HS allowing NIL for the 1st time in 2024? As for the NW part of Florida, Escambia went to the title game just a few years ago. But with NIL, you'll never see another team outside of Jacksonville, Orlando, Tamp/St Pete, and Miami ever win a state title. There might a few outliers like Ft Lauderdale, but to me they are just an off shoot of Miami-Dade. What I expect is those smaller power house program like St Thomas Aquinas, will no longer be that power if they can't pony up the cash especially with coaches getting bought out by the Miami Northwesterns. I would expect Thompson's coach getting wooed by big money to schools with elite players. It would be hard to turn down $10M/yr to coach the ESPN Top 300 (or whatever how many players a varsity team is allowed). My guess is these uber teams will do away with freshmen and JV to focus on varsity since they can recruit everywhere.

They’ve created magnate schools which helps get around the transfer issues but getting to and from schools you don’t live near is a pain in the ass. Not a lot of tgat going on here. The programs aren’t as strong as they use to be. We use to have some state champions in football and baseball frequently but when the private schools took over, it seems the programs list interest and tge coaching really isn’t there anymore. Coaches moved on to places that were more supportive I guess.

I had to pay $500 for my kid the play basketball at public hs. It covered shoes (that sucked). Uniform and whatever cost that the state was short for the team. Most players didn’t or couldn’t pay and I guess you could say boosters paid the rest. I don’t know where the money came from but my kid paid his.

Why yes, yes it is. As Mencken once said, no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

I'm pretty sure the OP meant Miami the University rather than Miami the City.

Went to a private school and graduated in the early 80s. Boosters definitely paid for several players to transfer in, gave mom or dad a job, rent free or reduced home rental etc.
