Montana's election season has gotten off to a rocky start after absentee voters realized Kamala Harris was not a listed candidate on their ballot.

The state was forced to shut down its electronic absentee voter system after it went live on September 20 when a voter reported that there was no option to vote for the vice president.

Max Himsl, a Montana voter living in the UK, reported the issue when trying to fill out his ballot online, according to the Daily Inter Lake, a local newspaper. He reported it right away to the Flathead County Election Department on Friday, September 20.

As a precaution the Secretary of State's office, run by Republican Christi Jacobson, took down the electronic absentee system for troubleshooting, although it insisted that very few voters had been affected by this issue.

It's good to know that in Montana there was someone who noticed. Gives me hope.

That's one way to slam dunk a gop win: leave Kamala Harris off the ballot. Any other red states want to play?

It really took a voter in the UK to notice?

meanwhile, how many Republican governors are chewing out their election officials at this moment: “why the hell didn’t you think if this?!?”

Curious if they still had Biden as a choice.

The complaint was that Harris was not on the ballot. According to your article they had to take the site down to fix it. What part of the initial post is incorrect? Also, the following quote is from your article

"A spokesperson said the potentially impacted voter has been contacted and does not require further action."

In other words she wasn't there

Montana has only voted blue 2 times since 1952. This state is about as Republican as you can get. If the Republicans are cheating, pick a state you’re losing in :)

I think this was just a technical issue with the online vote, not cheating. Montana is an interesting state though. They always have one R and D senator. Obama came close in the state but it’s routinely been around 55-60% R to 37-42% D for President.

Also this “fact check” seems to acknowledge there was indeed an issue with their electronic absentee system (or at least that it was taken down and “resolved”).

Seems this is another Republican official playing the “fake news” card as a deflection tactic. Maybe the error only impacted a small subset, but that still wouldn’t be “misinformation” if the issue was real.
