No, it's just that the democrats have done everything possible to try to ruin our great country. Any Republican running against our current dumbass leader would be a huge step in the right direction

I actually liked Mike Pence, but he never stood a chance and most repubs wouldn't waste a vote on him or any of the others you mentioned.

I would prefer DeSantis but Trump will win the nomination, so he'll get my vote. If Haley or Tim Scott somehow got the nomination, I would be ok with either of them. No reason to talk about the rest, none of them stand a chance

I definitely can understand this. It is a sentiment that is shared by many in this board in both political camps. I was mostly curious that you referenced any “Republican” rather than, say, “conservative”. What happens if you end up with a Republican who believes in taking steps to stem climate change, maintaining abortion access, opening trading borders, and ensuring free speech for corporations? (These are all things that I’ve seen from republicans in recent history) Which principles are at the core of your values and would cause you to vote for another party?

In my opinion that's not even possible. I've stated before DeSantis is who I would prefer but Trump will get the nomination and I'll be happy with that. If Haley or Scott somehow got lucky and won, I would be ok with either of them. The rest never stood a chance anyway so no reason discussing them.

I'm sure Mr. Trump has a 30 or 40 something year old hardliner ready to install into Utah. Make it rain.

He's an opportunist, not a planner. He'll endorse whoever says the nicest things about him and is doing the best in the polls. If they win, he'll take all the credit. If they lose, he'll make something up like that person was losing by 40 points before Trump stepped in.

    Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Or perhaps he has decided he wants to enjoy the time he has left while he still can?

Romney is paying $5k a month to keep his family safe from his own party's voters.

That's all you need to know about the modern GOP.

That Miserable Bag Of Goo Mitt Romney Slinks Away Humiliated (townhall.com)

I knew there was something wrong with Mitt Romney, really wrong, when my mom – a daughter of Pennsylvania’s steel mill country, but a dedicated Republican, told me back in 2012, “I just don’t like him.” Of course, those steel mills are all gone now, moved to China by guys who either were, or looked exactly like, Mitt Romney. Now he’s finally calling it quits as a senator, apparently by popular demand. His departure is cause for celebration. Mitt Romney is a bad person who pretends to be a good person. He is the blow-dried embodiment of everything awful about the Republican Party that used to be. The only good thing about him is the riddance.

The GOP loved the Bushes, the Cheneys and Romney before they didn't. The GOP cares about nothing but the accumulation of power and has no agenda to help the American people. Once you expend your usefulness, you become a target.

When has Romney been on the side of liberals?

That's usually how it goes. They will sing your praises and vote for you time and time again until one day they decide to turn your back on you and call you a RINO

Two attempts to avoid the question. Interesting. Almost makes one wonder why it is so hard to find evidence of Romney supporting liberal policies.

I think the last few years have changed my opinion of him. Very liberal to moderate voting record, I think only two other senators are considered more liberal than him. Voting to confirm Ketanji Jackson and siding with the far left with the bull shit impeachment of President Trump. That's a few to come to mind
