Co-MVGs: The Florida Gators gained some revenge for their only home-court loss with a SEC Quarter Final, street fight victory over the Missouri Tigers, 95-81. This was a game of two distinct halves with the Gator blitzing the Tigers 50-37 in the first half, including shooting an incredible 70% from the floor. Sr All-American PG Walter Clayton Jr was on fire in the first half and ended with 18 points (6-8 on FGA, 3-4 from 3-point line), 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals but also committed 5 turnovers for a Value Score of 88. When Walter was slowed in the second half with a hamstring strain, and the Tigers out rebounded the Gators plus got into an early bonus situation, it was So Thomas Haugh who then subtly took over in the second half finishing with 16 points (3-4 FGA, 10-12 FTA), 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal while also committing 3 TOs, but still ended up with an overall, team leading Value Score of 92. The Gators are Deep! Normally, only the top 3 Value Score leaders are highlighted, but in this game, Alija Martin, Will Richard, and Alex Condon all had solid Value Scores with each playing critical roles in beating back the aggressive, chaotic Missouri Tiger style of play. Though the Gators led throughout the game, it was a close contest until the very end when Walter Clayton Jr drove on the Tigers last big man, Josh Gray, fouling him out and forcing Missouri to go small. From that point on, the Gators dominated the last six minutes of the game, creating the deceptively large margin of victory. This game illustrates the strength of the SEC as this SEC QF contest had the look and feel a NCAA Sweet 16 regional semi-final game.
