Very sad. There was another college football player death recently where no cause of death was given. Luke Knox I believe.

There seems to be more young, healthy athletes passing away this year than usual. I wonder if there’s any common denominators?

I know one thing people don’t think about outside of Covid possible related issues is the amount of these energy drinks young people drink, and it’s not just the younger kids.

I don’t think people realize how dangerous these drinks are. Not saying this is what happened, but people are drinking to many of these things and is causing a lot of health issues, especially heart issues.

Could be sleep apnea. Very common in people with large necks.

The NCAA actually tracks these things, and if I recall correctly deaths were up in 2020 and only slightly in 2021.

This study from 2014 showed an average of about 7 deaths / year due to coronary issues:

I need to find the NCAA data, but it's not really wildly outside of those numbers. COVID and potentially vaccine-related heart issues are definitely a possibility for the rise, but they're more publicized than they are huge in number.

Drugs and suicide continue to top cardiovascular deaths.

Sleep apnea causes a myriad of health problems but it doesn’t cause a 20 year old to drop dead.

I wonder if it's like the pills that used to be available at gas stations - was it ephedrine? Those pills would help you make it through an all nighter or drive a long distance at night. They proved to be dangerous, though, and I think came out of circulation.

I am guessing that it was a suicide.

Mississippi State football player dies days before 19th birthday

Those used to be pretty popular in the fitness world in the stack ECA (ephedrine, caffeine, and aspirin) or worse ECY (ephedrine, caffeine, yohimbe)

Pitcher Steve Bechler's death was partially blamed on it.

Well I didn’t check today, but as of yesterday the speculation was it was suicide or clot shot. Idk

Know a few dudes that had heart attacks from energy drinks in their early 30s.
