Well gee that was fun to revisit (not).

3 things jumped out upon review:

1. my recollection of my involvement in that thread was way off; apparently i was far more involved in it than I remembered;

2. Coop's allegation of cowardice on my part was beyond BS, as i hung in there while getting torched by like 90% of the board;

3. There still ain't a sentilla of racism to my analysis;

....and bonus point: clearly my involvement in that thread left waaaaayyyy greater an impression on the 90% of the libbies here, than it did on me.

I don't think that it has to be, but I do think the man's occupation is part of the cause.

I do believe that pastors have a higher incidence of these issues than the average public.

Christians in the U.S. give their pastors too much automatic leeway and put them on a pedestal where they cannot be questioned, and this opens the door for dirtbags to take up the cloth.

A lot of people talking up or down Jesus here, so let me take that on.

If Jesus were living here in the flesh, I think the first thing he would do is start challenging and tearing up the churches we have. It is what he actually did during his life. He didn't make a stand on taxes or government policy towards all of the debauchery the Romans were famous for.

Jesus went into the church (that was pious by 2023 standards) and started breaking china and telling off all of the "pastors" for how they ran things.

If more Christians in the US followed his example, we wouldn't see so many of these preacher corruption scandals.

FYI, I personally have been excommunicated from a Presbyterian church (I'll bet you didn't think that was a thing!) for naming a very specific sex crime in front of a pastor who had unfortunately committed the same crime, thus setting him off.

The systematic protection of "Reverend" is fostering the endless stream of pulpit scandals.
