We had 12 turnovers which is on the low end and only about one more penalty per game. If those numbers were so significant, we should have won a lot more games. There is a lot that goes into a team besides that, and, yes, Harbaugh knows them.

There is, indeed, a lot more that goes into a team and winning.

One of them is a great defense, which Michigan clearly had; we did not.

Our low turnover rate kept us from being embarrassed, because those numbers are quite significant. Kudos to Mertz and the players for protecting the ball.

Michigan looked every bit what Bama looked like in the earlier years under Saban, when they were just building the program.

Correct. The flip side is our defense created few turnovers. We ranked next to dead last in fumbles recovered with 4, but that's also equal to Washington and Georgia was even worse with only 3 fumble recoveries. But we lead the nation in fewest interceptions (tied with Temple), with just 3. The kid we are getting from the portal from Troy had 3 last year. Add them together, and we ranked next to dead last in defensive turnovers (Temple was the worst with just 5 turnovers all season).
