I think it’s possible that when Miller was out with the thumb injury Kitna was starting to shine on the practice field. After his showing against Eastern Washington, albeit an inferior opponent, Napier may have decided Kitna was the best option. He bragged about the progress Kitna was making on more than one occasion.
I just saw this on TOS and remembered the situation again: "Miller's momentum came to a screeching halt when he suffered an avulsion fracture in his right thumb just weeks before the start of the regular season. As explained by clevelandclinic.org, an avulsion fracture is the separation of a ligament or tendon from the main bone in the injured body part and cases in the thumb can take between three and 12 weeks to fully heal. "Jack had a thumb avulsion fracture which is the same surgery that Drew Brees had just a couple of years ago," Napier said on Aug. 21. "So we anticipate him missing I’m going to say the first two games and we’re hopeful we get him back for Week 3. He’ll be in a cast in a couple of weeks as that thing grows back together and he’ll start the rehab process."
Maybe he's got some chemistry with Odum, Douglas and the other guys running 2nd team reps until they were called up to fill in for injuries. Henderson back for bowl?
I think people sometimes put too much weight on the splash plays and don’t realize that making the simple plays that makes it second down and five consistently is what makes a great quarterback
I think this will be like Malik Zaire 2.0 - overhyped transfer from big school, starts the bowl game, plays mediocre, never heard from again.
Maybe not. If he's so raw that he doesn't get any snaps at all, perhaps he can hang in and work on his mechanics before trying to go elsewhere. He may have a slow release, but he does have arm talent and I hope he eventually gets a chance somewhere.
I like him too but Tashada and DJ aren’t going to sit long. I wish he started this bowl and next year to give Rashada his rs. I just don’t see him getting a shot if he doesn’t get his shot next year.
