So is this a thread where we ignore the impact COVID had on global economic decisions or is that only when somebody brings up how Trump is the first President since Hoover to see job totals fall in his 4 years as President?

the 4 years from 2017-2020 are dwarfed by 2022 alone, and almost 2021, imagine the same with 2023

Here you are again with they walk 100's if not thousands of miles horse $hit!!!! Have you seen the vast majority of the folks crossing? They damn sure don't look like they have just been on a hundred-mile hike!! Maybe 10 miles from the bus that dropped them! You are impossible to have any kind of discussion about the border when you will not try to have honest dialogue and are a one trick pony of walls don't work. We all know that a wall by itself will not be totally effective, but it is deterrent along with other options and of course improving the asylum and immigration [policy as a whole.

I highly suggest that you look into how a person actually crosses Mexico. The migrants need to navigate a series of Coyotes, figure out which ones won't just rob them and leave them in the desert. Then, the "good ones" will pile you into a boat or a truck often without food or water for days. You then get a "ride" through the territory of several cartels, who each need to be paid not to kill you or steal all of your stuff. Sometimes, they might do it anyway. That might get you to Mexico City. Then the real fun starts. And this is the experience for the people who have about $10k or so to pay these guys. The experience is a lot worse for those who don't. But sure, the wall is more of a deterrent than 7-8 cartels...just to get to Mexico City. Or even registers as any sort of deterrent to people going through that.

Who cares who is the President??? The issue on the border has been building for years! Trying to fix the border started with Obama and the cages he constructed for the kids, Trump did a few things and had the advantage of COVID to shut down the border, but now with Biden we are getting more coming across in his three years then we had in the past 12 years combined and you guys don't want to do anything about it!! The bill the Senate passed was a $hitty bill and probably needed to be defeated because the wording allowed for what we see now to just continue. Read the whole bill and understand that it wasn't really going to slow down many crossings. The 5,000 number was a fake number, because all the places that they could cross that were not added with the 5,000. So crappy bill, maybe better than nothing but I don't believe so.

Some arrive on trains, but Mexico has been cracking down on those hitching rides on them. The IRC, and several other humanitarian organizations also has a large presence at the border, giving migrants food, water, and clothing. Just because a migrant might not look like they just walked hundreds of miles doesn't mean they didn't. As they say, don't judge a book by the cover.

As for 2020, does anybody remember the global pandemic? Title 42 and Remain in Mexico were COVID policies. It's unsure if Biden could enact them now without declaring another pandemic. And I think we all agree the pandemic is over. Remain in Mexico was also an humanitarian disaster, and not a good policy.

Now, let's hypothetically think what would have happened with migrant numbers had 2020 been a "normal" year." Think 2020 would have seen a higher spike than 2019, or would if it been as low as it was? And what would have the 2021 and 2022 numbers look like? The answer is simple. 2020 would have seen the spike rise, and 2021 and 2022 would have still seen a spike, but not as high as the numbers we see. Simply put, the 2020 pandemic pushed a lot of migrants to wait until 2021 or 2022 to come.

And border issues began long, LONG before Obama. It was Reagan, back in 1986, who came up with the amnesty plan. And before than, between WWII and 1963 we had a Bracero Guest Worker program that allowed over 1 million to emigrate into the US, mostly from Mexico. And I ask again, what's worked at slowing undocumented immigrants from coming? Nothing short of the largest recession since the Great Depression and the biggest global pandemic since the Spanish Flu! Everything else has failed?

What worked was the Bracero Program, and to a lesser extend, Reagan's amnesty. That allowed millions of migrants to come out of the shadows and become legal, with legal protections, The problem was Reagan's amnesty didn't allow for any future programs where we could legalize those here already working, and those coming to work. Could have done this in 2007 and again in 2013 with the Gang of 8. But we didn't, and the problem continues. And people are being insane, proposing the same solutions over and over again and hoping for different results this time!

Why wouldn't they just fly into the USA or Canada then if its that simple. You can claim asylum at any port of entry.

Mexico City is also about 600 miles from the nearest US border crossing. And a 9-10 day walk, at minimum.

Yep, none of them realized the danger of going North. They did it anyway, knowing full well the dangers they face and the ridiculousness of trying to get into the US permanently. And no, migrants are not generally flying into Mexico City. The vast majority start in a few towns in the Southern part of the country.

    Approximately 35% are now granted.

I never said their contribution to the economy qualified them for asylum, only that most are productive while awaiting an asylum determination.

Either we're a Christian nation or we're not. Christians are loudly proclaiming that we are. They need to let their deeds rather then their mouths do the proclaiming.

Thank you for those. Every time I read Scripture, I am astonished at how seldom many of us fall short of what is commanded of the human family. Why God doesn’t intervene, I do not know. I do know he weeps for us.

WATCH: Illegal Alien Steals Large Truck, Goes On Rampage Ramming Into Cars | The Daily Wire

A 27-year-old man accused of stealing a Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration truck and going on a rampage, slamming into more than a dozen cars late last week, is an illegal alien.

Flavio Cesar Lanuza was arrested by Maryland State Police and was charged with vehicle theft and first-degree assault, with more charges likely to be filed soon, investigators told WUSA 9.
I blame this on Maryland for not giving out credit cards like NY

Just give them guest worker visas .... but no citizenship beyond the normal historical processed followed by "legal immigrants", regardless of their status as asylum seekers. Further, no special accommodations should be made as regards financial needs. Medical needs should be handled only by private charitable organizations ..... and those who have a desire to assist any immigrants with their medical needs can do so via contributions to those charities. There is plenty of wealth in this nation to support such non-profit, charitable programs.

I wonder how many of you fans of just let them in have done anything to help these poor young men that have walked 1000's of miles? Have any of you invited them to stay in your home? Have any of you paid higher taxes than your tax bill or donated to the NGOs to help?.
It's comical how some of you talk, I mean type, but when it comes time to do, what have you done?

I pay my taxes and I expect my federal government to enact and enforce the laws that my representatives, that I voted for, have passed. This administration is not doing that. It's fairly simple.

I pay my taxes too, and have been writing my Congressman and Senators to pass a Gang of 8 style Bill for years. I also donate to humanitarian aid groups that help migrants. I also don't ask, nor care about the legal status of the people who do my landscaping, take care of my pool, do dishes at local restaurants, etc.
