He doesn't come off as a guy that would make major changes during the season. Likely off season. Good or bad could be up for debate. That's just my impression. I do see a little over analysis on his part.

I am pretty certain analytics wouldn’t come up with 3rd down and 8 to run up the middle with 8 guys stacking near the line.

It’s good to know they are “getting better at their process”. I can’t wait to see those National Process Championship trophies come rolling in.

 

We won the game and anyone that offered constructive criticism got blasted but that is what was so disappointing about the 2nd half against Tennessee. They were reeling and the Swamp was roaring. Instead of continuing to build on that we turtled up and tried to hold on instead. It worked this time but that isn't going to cut it in the SEC.

 

No. You are right. We are trying to be something UF will never be a run first team. Even Mark Stoops knows a good OC when he sees it. You can still run if you mix it up. Their RB Davis run amuck due to us playing deep zone to take away the passing threat and not lining up with seven men near the line of scrimmage. Take what a defense gives you and what your offense can do consistently and score. Just moving the chains twenty yards and eating up time is a loser’s foil. Nothing but ego getting in the way to winning. Trust the process! Even if we beat Vandy and struggle to score, there are certain lines by the administration that have to be delivered. It is not a sure win. The fun and excitement of Gator football is in the twilight zone!

I am not so certain. A glaring flaw for Napier in year 1 was his in game management, which continued right into the Utah game, and reared itself again against Kentucky. Just unfathomable mistakes which gave both Utah and Kentucky free possessions and subsequently scored from.

Keep on loading the roster... there are flashes of brilliance from the young players, but these mistakes whether penalty or game management are directly on Napier and cannot continue to pile up.

 

How about no urgency to score to start the game!
No let’s begin the game and see what they do. Ssshh, we are always behind the eight ball due to us trying the establish the run game. Get behind and us still trying to eat up clock. This is not winning football.

 

He can say what he wants, SS has made him a very wealthy man whether he stays or goes. He speaks of humility and that he's his own worst critic, if that were true he would fire himself as OC and hire someone who is actually competent.

Just a quick edit, no way is he going to hire someone in mid season, so this year he could have one of the assistant coaches do that, and heck, he doesn't even have to reveal that the change has been made. However next year it is a must otherwise he will be like DM who failed to fire Grantham and Hev and thus be on his way out.

 

All I am going to place out here is...

He WILL get that his system is flawed with him being OC, whether he muddles through the season or not, and he can play in earnest Max Brown because he at least provides hope that may be starved out of this season (Miller is a lesser Mertz) and then take a chance that his recruiting haul remains, or he can take a potentially significant hit in the class (mainly the WRs and TEs) and remediate for the next year or two (most likely). OR...he can "stay the course" in whatever fashion he determines and he will likely be "Dead Man Walking" beginning next season. I don't say that with any vitriol, I am merely seeing what this level of sport involves and this isn't going to work well, except for a proverbial "Hail Mary" touchdown pass. But that is for the end of the season and not now.

Have been using 4 and 5 wideouts? That's rare for sure... But I wouldn't mind mixing an matching our game plan up a bit... By the way we don't have freshman Tim Tebow on our team... but we will have the next best thing IN THE 2024 SEASON. So, the spread option is out of the question... for now.

So, that leaves us with the only change that could drastically change our season, on offense, this year. And that is to run a 20... 21... 22... personnel sets pieces, becasue we don't have a real fullback on our team.

I don't expect much change this year except for a few minor changes for the hay is in the barn. Big changes comes during off season. I think (and could be very wrong) he will begin a candidate search for a new OC and probably will have some agreement with that guy prior to season ending. That guy, must have the ability to utilize the skills of our QB recruit and speedy wr's. In this way, BN can tell these recruits who the guy is and what the plans are for utilizing them next season. I think that will not only excite and keep these recruits but will also help prevent top playmakers from abandoning ship.
