I was thinking it’d be smart to rest him until the Michigan game. Gives him enough time to rest while giving the team enough time to gel prior to SEC play.
I don't get it. If his ankle is okay, he should play. If it isn't okay, he should NOT play. He is 19 years old, he doesn't need rest, he needs reps with the team.
Ankles can be tricky. It wasn’t a mild sprain, the kid was in agony. The annoying part is the lack of transparency that seems to be a theme of Gator basketball lately.
Gotcha, thanks. I was watching the game where he got hurt, I just didn't see the agony and all that. Injuries on the basketball team always seem to be a closely guarded state secret for some reason, as you suggest.
Todd was asked about it Monday and said Micah was getting better, would try to practice and hopefully give it a go in the game Tuesday. How’s that not transparent?
The fact that no one could trust if he was actually going to play is why there’s an overall sense from fans that the program isn’t transparent with player health. Because there was not one sign of transparency between John Egbunu and Keyontae Johnson.
Unrelated to the point but ok. You can try counting how many games after Pitt that fans would be wondering if Micah would play or not. Go ahead and count and let me know what you find.
Should I also point out that this medical staff refused to even clear Keyontae over a year after his cardiac arrest, without giving a clear word to fans as to why? Meanwhile USC is about to clear Bronny James less than 5 months after his cardiac arrest. How about John Egbunu and “January” only to hear crickets for that entire season?
And yes this is a rant and yes I have a major issue with whoever is running the medical staff. We’d sit players out WEEKS for a simple bump to the head even though that player would want to get back into the game.
A concussion is a serious medical issue and not "a simple bump on the head." There are protocols you have to get through.
There are also varying degrees of concussion that warrant more or less time off the court. We treated all the same.
And it seems I’ve offended the first of the medical crowd. @core545 throwing out my first ever dislike lol. Thanks bro.
I find it odd that so many wear low tops and almost none of them tape their ankles. Guess they don’t want to get adhesive on their cool shoes.
They aren't getting taped??? That would be mandatory if I were the coach. Do they think it slows them down?
Unless they do it under their socks, they don’t. I hardly ever see it anymore. My wife played and had bad ankles, so she constantly points it out. She also points out how many wear low tops. She gets real riled up about both of those things, and missed free throws, lol.
