Thought we'd get a central place to discuss Replays didn't show much other than what looked like he had his leg rolled up on by Bub, of whatever his name is. Instant pain on Micah's face. Harry says ankle. Guessing that's coming from the program. High ankle or regular roll job..... Here's to hoping he's back quick.
The shots of him on the bench showed a guy who was smiling and enjoying himself. He did not look like he was emotionally distressed or in great pain. I think that is a good sign. If he were significantly injured, I don't think he would have been acting the same way, and I believe there would have been a good amount of distress showing on his face. We'll see...cautiously optimistic, though.
I rolled my ankle so many times playing basketball at his age at Gatorwood back in the day. Ice it to get the swelling down and he should be back in no time.
He wasn’t standing up during TOs, which worried me, but he was on his feet constantly in that second half. Guess we just have to see if there is much swelling. Coin flip for Baylor, but doesn’t look like serious at all.
Definitely not the treaded high ankle sprain as he would have been in obvious pain with a walking boot and crutches. Insofar as playing against Baylor is concerned, I doubt it as no need to aggravate an ankle sprain. Thankfully, UF has 3 bigs to compensate for another game. On the other hand, if it was rolled and he was held out as a precaution, not a sprain, we'll likely see him tomorrow against Baylor. Time will tell.
I dunno, I've had a gazillion routine ankle sprains and get over them fairly soon. But the one time I got the dreaded high ankle sprain, it didn't seem so bad at first. But by the next day my foot was swollen and purple from my toes to above the ankle. Like a purple elephant's foot. And very painful. I went for x-rays to see if it was broken. I couldn't run on it for another 6 months. A mild sprain, and we might see Micah in the game tomorrow. But we need to assume he's out for at least one game.
My last mild ankle sprain took me a week to get over. Most athletes recover from high ankle sprains in 6 to 8 weeks so long as they don't reaggravate the sprain. The time starts all over again if the athlete comes back too soon and tweaks it again. I hope Micah didn't wake up this morning with a "purple elephant's foot." If so, we have Aleks Szymczyk, 6'10"/250, ready to come back in a couple of weeks according to Golden.
he looked engaged in the game and not upset or emotional as mentioned upthread so hopefully not a major issue. Not gonna expect him against Baylor though, will be a pleasant surprise if he does play.
When the "accident" happened. it looked to me like the Pitt player had locked Micah's arm against his waist and then took him to the ground by pulling him down over him to try and get a cheap foul. My concern was this move was more of an arm bar injury that might have hyper-extended Micah's elbow or wrist as he got pulled over the Pitt player. Yes it looked like they tumbled over each other but the arm lock gave it away. Makes me wonder if they thought he had more than one injury to sit him the rest of the game.
I saw the same thing too. The officials let them play so any call that could throw out a player was off the table. In a first round holiday tournament, those calls are considered common fouls. Hopefully Friday's game is called more fairly.
It looked like a knee sprain to me both on replay and his reaction. Knee sprains are more painful initially. Would be a bummer if he didn’t play Baylor but the rest might be better for us in the long run. Gives more minutes to Condon who seems to get better the more time he’s out there.
I didn’t really see what happened. There were no replays on the Jumbotron at Barclays. He was writhing on the ground for a good bit though.
