Wait. You think social media is an accurate mirror?

Wait. You think an industry with a 90% democratic registration wont be biased?

Perhaps liberals are looking into one of those mirrors that makes you look thinner and they like it because it fits their desire?

Both sides are crazy for believing what they see. The media (journalism at least) is no longer about information. It is about targeted clicks and ad revenue.

    This aint MySpace though.

It's a whole seperate web. Many businesses forego web pages and just have facebook business pages for free.

It has its own HR/job board.

It's a marketplace that millions depend on to run businesses.

MySpace was a place to post some pics and tell what you had for breakfast.

Facebook will never be the cool kid. Its grown up in that regard.

I HATE the basic social media side of facebook. The political posts, the complaining etc...but the business side is quite powerful and robust.

    Enjoy that thin mirror.

My use of both sides was me not giving my side any credit either. I wasnt singling out the left like you do the right.

But to argue that the msm which is 90% democrat is accurate without bias is nonsense.

You like what they say. Just like you like that thinning mirror.

Tilly already pointed out the business side of Facebook being a behemoth, but I will add in that Facebook has been maybe the best platform at moving internationally (where much of it's growth has been) and that Facebook isn't just Facebook, as Instagram is one of the places the cool kids are at right now and WhatsApp has a massive international base. If you include Facebook Messenger as a separate platform (which they do), Facebook owns 4 of the 6 largest social media platforms in the world.

That literally couldnt have less to do with what we are saying. I am saying people soak up what they wish from the handpicked media of their choice. (Thinning mirror reference).

You are acting like its crazybto call the media biased.

If 90% of the media vote one way and they also know that half the population thinks like them and will watch, what direction will they lean? Enter Fox, who seeing this went for the other half of the extreme.

Journalism in the mainstream isnt a thing. Marketing is. Ads are weighed on what gets clicks.

Showing some whacko post from twitter doesnt prove anything. Most people who follow those accounts do so for entertainment not for actual belief in fake maps lol

Cmon man. Wade out here a bit more toward the middle. The water is great.

I don’t doubt that they can probably cut a lot, but they are going about it in a very ham handed manner.

Id agree Musk hasn’t been treated fairly, but at the same time he paid billions for a media company, and how the acquisition and RIFS are handled will go a long way to whether it succeeds or fails. Him acting like a victim doesn’t help anything. He bought the company and these are his employees and customers.

All these dumb asses who decide to boycott Facebook and then hang out on Instagram are clueless.

Meta laying off more than 11,000 employees: Read Zuckerberg’s letter announcing the cuts
“I want to take accountability for these decisions and for how we got here. I know this is tough for everyone, and I’m especially sorry to those impacted.” Zuckerberg said.
    ........
Impacted employees will receive 16 weeks of pay plus two additional weeks for every year of service, Zuckerberg said. Meta will cover health insurance for six months.
Facebook has 82 locations worldwide. How many employees in the US will be let go is unknown. As for the severance package that is pretty much standard practice across the major players in the IT industry.

Looking at just the excerpt, knowing nothing more, he seems to be trying to take a bit of a highroad in contrast to the earlier example this week

They have a global workforce of 1.5 million so the layoffs are .6% of their total workforce. Amazon doubled their workforce in the last two years and they overplayed the pandemic spending habits of consumers. Now that the music is stopping, everyone is scrambling to get a chair.

That makes sense. Just seems like they are very successful. Wish there was more hard detail

They are cutting some fat. Some of their teams, like Alexa, are bleeding money.

I hate Alexa. I don't use it but it keeps trying to make me. I have heard that some elderly immobile persons (not there yet) like it. But I hate that it takes up a lot of space on my Fire reader and I can't remove it - had to but a new one.
