Count me in. Just sold one a month ago but still have four; five if we count the canoe. Used to have a handful of pocket knives but two growing teenage boys in the house helped them disappear over the years. Have had to resort to using the wife’s old keepsake Girl Scout knife a couple times. Oh hell, my last pocket knife experience was with a girly knife. Let the ribbing and innuendo begin.

    In my head--- UF
Leatherman multi tool is overkill imo.
    Quick open CRKT
EDC for me is knife, ballistic pen, Geekey multi tool, in the shape of a key, very handy

A knife should be one of several items, not the only one

Well for the most part most who post are anonymous and we don't have any idea who the other person is. The persona that each may share in their opinions on this board may not really reflect who they are. I thought this might be an opportunity to see a little deeper into the persona of posters and if you read this thread, I think it was successful. There are several responses that were just what I expected and several that made me reevaluate some of my perceived notions of that poster. I tend to think the anonymity of these boards is what leads to discourse that doesn't help. If we have a little more knowledge of others poster, we may actually respect their opinion even though we may disagree.

I have a PM2 on pre-order. The blade steel is Magnacut. Pretty stoked about it. I've been rotating my EDCs lately. QSP Penguin, Kizer Cormorant, Civivi Sokoke, CJRB Prado, Exceed Designs TiRant, Boker Kaizen, and a couple others.

I order from BladeHQ or KnifeCenter, but have been looking at Chicago Knife Works lately. They are usually a bit cheaper than the first two, but have not ordered from there yet. I got that Manix 2 out the door for $110 from BladeHQ with the sale they had plus my points I've accumulated ($20 gift card).

You've bought enough knives to accumulate points?

It’s a thing. They can be both a tool and beautiful.

Lol. I have. As @ursidman said, it's both a tool and sometimes a work of art, imo. I guess it would be similar to folks that collect nice watches. It doesn't help that I work with a couple guys that also collect pocket knives.

Missed this thread last year and reading through it made me aware I had not recently read any posts from @dynogator. In checking her posting history she hasn't posted since October, 2023 or logged on the site since December.

    Missing her...:(

This is true. Trucker has 3 Solingen pocket knives crafted with a brass filagree patterned case. They are beautiful and collectible as they are no longer being made.

The first one was a gift from his father when he graduated from UF. It had several blades and a small pair of scissors he frequently used. The spring on the scissors broke after years of use and he put the knife away. When we were vacationing in Germany some time after that he purchased another Solingen with similar features in a similar filagree pattern and carried that around for a few years before misplacing it. I bought him a 3rd one, another filagree Solingen to replace the lost one.

Three years ago when looking for the seldom used electric drill the 2nd / lost one turned up in a sealed cardboard box. The box was filled with tools we keep in the garage and had been packed in our garage in Florida before our move to Colorado in 2018.

Are you into kitchen knives too or is this strictly a pocket knife thing?

Just pocket knives. They're kinda like fancy, adult fidget spinners. Well, the fidgety ones are the ones I like.

I don't fidget with the kitchen knives.
