Charlie Crist's Lt. Governor running mate:

Karla Hernandez-Mats: Five things to know about Charlie Crist’s pick for Lieutenant Governor (floridapolitics.com)

First, Charlie tells the majority party to not vote for him and now he picks a woke school union leader loser for a running mate. The new conservative Miami Dade School Board won't be listening to her any longer any way. (chuckle)

    L O S E R !

As the thrice-elected president of United Teachers of Dade (UTD), Hernandez-Mats oversees the operations of the largest labor union in the Southeast United States in the fourth-largest school district nationwide.

It’s a pivotal time for education, with most conservatives and progressive split on where the power should rest when it comes to school safety, education on sex and gender identity, and how racism and slavery should be taught.

DeSantis’ influence on that front is undeniable. Most of the GOP-aligned School Board candidates he endorsed either won their seats outright Aug. 23 or are headed to runoffs.

Pretty typical selection for the liberal.

What exactly from that article makes her a "loser"? Simply that she belongs to a union? So did my pops, was he a loser too? Or maybe that she fought for higher wages for teachers? How dare we want to pay them a living wage. Or perhaps that her father immigrated here to work in the fields and raise a family even though he was an accountant in his native country, or that she protested non-violently for Dreamers? Or is just anyone who disagrees with you politically a "loser".

Because all the stuff you've bolded is editorialization by the article writer, not anything that ties her to her policy, and it may or may not be accurate.

Seems like a potentially pretty savvy pick to me. Biden lost FL because his margin among Latinos in south Florida was fractional of Obama's. This pick may help that significantly.

She lost the Miami-Dade school board to conservatives on her watch so there is that. She's a loser and Charlie Crist is a loser too.

She is better than the current Lieutenant Governor of Florida, who supports bussing Cuban immigrants who present at the Mexican border to Delaware. Even though the support system for new Cuban immigrants is largely in South Florida and Tampa. But, that will Sell with the white-non-Cuban base whole they attempt to walk it back in Cuban communities. In my world, that makes DeSantis and Nunez liars. In right wing world, that makes them smart Republicans.

Not sure how that will play is South Fl. Surprisingly many of my lifelong Cuban friends down there do not identify with the current immigrants from Cuba.

An organized labor leader who has an expertise in education and a South Florida Latina? Sounds like a good idea to me.

The school board was already 5-4 Republican. The two seats DeSantis "flipped" were held by Republicans. In fact, the only incumbent who lost was a self-proclaimed "conservative" Cuban-American who was the only person to vote against the school board developing an anti-racism curriculum. The swing vote is a moderate Republican (who beat a conservative backed by the Moms for "Liberty").

What I wonder is would her experience qualify her to be governor should something happen to crist (similar to Palin and McCain)

Per Article IV, Section 5 of the state constitution, the lieutenant governor must be at least 30 years old and have been a resident and registered voter of Florida for at least seven years on the day of the election. Experience apparently isn’t a factor though I think it should be.

Even better, but that is not what was reported. The republican you are counting is a RINO or liberal if he/she voted against conservative values. The Miami Dade board is now conservative, and it came on Crist's Lt. Governor selection.

I know liberals are wokely FOS so no need to tell me what is and isn't a conservative. It's obviously anything you are not or have you already figured that out.

I always see shortsighted and biased people speak ill of MAGA. You seem to think MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN is something for which we conservative should be wearing a scarlet letter for supporting.

Serious question, does your opposition of MAGA mean you believe in Make America Worse Off?

A Conservative (big C) believes in keeping government as efficient as possible and at the same time maintaining a stable economic, legal and political framework that guarantees the benefits and protections of our founding principles to every American.

A MAGA, or Conservative (small c), is a proponent of white, male, Christian hegemony over every American. They are in favor of maintaining political power in the hands of wealthy and corporate campaign donors while deluding their working-class supporters with false fears of socialism and grievances.

“Make America Great Again” isn’t a policy, it’s a campaign slogan. Trump stole it from Hitler, but even Hitler didn’t use the phrase to campaign with.

No, the swing vote is a moderate who smoked a conservative challenger in the primary lol. It's like you don't read before responding.

Looks like Charlie has Trump's vote locked down.
