A couple of interesting rankings that make Jacksonville look really good. No offense to the River City, but they're a little surprising. Sixteenth best place in the country to live and the only place in Florida to make Forbes' 25 best places to retire.

Jacksonville, Florida among Forbes' best places to retire in 2023

Where did Jacksonville rank on national list of Best Places to Live?

I think it depends heavily on what you’re looking for. I grew up in Jax and still visit fairly frequently. I can see why Jax ranks high on affordability, access to outdoor activities, etc. Not a lot of nightlife, arts, music, etc. and it’s a hard town to get around due to its sprawling nature and lack of good non-driving transportation options. I enjoy my visits but usually find myself pretty bored after a day or two.

    Ha, a couple of
Months ago, jax was a major crime ridden city.
Imagine what the liberal media can do for you.

So why is the liberal media making Jacksonville look good?

You tell me. But maybe you ought to not put so much stock in these links.
It makes my point that you can find a link or data to show almost anything.
It’s why many threads just go in circles.
Media is a joke and it seriously leans left. Own that.

Agree. I’ve never understood polls that quantify a 100% individually subjective thing and try make it into a one size fits all index. But I do love Jax!

Moving the Fla-Ga game during this era of Georgia ascendancy is having some unintended effects

I didn’t read the OP as taking a position, just presenting the ranking for discussion

I've been to most of those cities and other than Fargo I would put Lincoln NE, Lawernce KS, and Virginia Beach on the no go list.

And that’s fine, I don’t use these links as gospel. Hell, I don’t even consider gospel to be gospel.
Some folks here think the data on links are actually more compelling than they really are.

Factual reporting you don’t like = liberal? These liberal reporters at Forbes also noted (factually) that serious crime is above national rate. Up to the reader what to make of it.

So one of the most crime ridden cities is also a wonderful place to retire.
    Nice take.

Nothing is being taken as gospel. It's fuel for conversation. Which you can take part in or go off on a generic anti-media rant, which has really nothing to do with this.

I made a very strong point against trusting the liberal media. Showing your bias, of course you don’t like it.

Atlantic Beach has really elevated. If your are in Jax but not on the beach there are way better places to live. But they have a great little beach scene if you ask me.

Plus you can watch some really good Georgia football once a year.

I like it. My family has deep roots in Jax. My gggg-grandfather’s estate was on the site of the zoo and a major thoroughfare is named after my ggg-uncle.

Some beautiful neighbors. And the river is magnificent.

If everyone would please stop moving here that would be great. Our roads can't handle the influx.
